Game Designer at Archetype Entertainment. Formerly BioWare. I like arguing, music, and margaritas.
I have a lot less patience for story games these days. Trying Death Stranding 2 and while I remember enjoying the first one this one feels so much more boring and slow to get going. I remember in DS1 being scared and in awe of the world, this one is just kind of delivery simulator from the start.

I donât get Air Riders. I really donât. To me it feels like Mario Kart, but worse. Itâs fine, itâs fun enough, it has cute characters but the racing feels so off to me.

I can't tell if Game of the Year discussion is more insufferable than in other mediums because I'm not as plugged into like, the Pulitzer Prize or Best Picture or whatever. Do those have like 35 year old man children arguing about them online, too?

Game dev pro tip: if someone questions why you are using a constant or magic number, just start calling it a âcoefficientâ â it sounds cooler and makes it seem like you know what you are doing.

I feel like AI use falls into the optimization trap. âWouldnât it be cool ifâ I could have AI do X for me. And the amount of time it takes you to explain exactly what you want to the AI, you could have done it already.

đđDid not care for this at all. A real bait and switch of a novel, and 200 pages too long. Not sci fi OR horror. Extremely slow paced with zero payoff at the end. Not recommended.

Got a flaw in Outer Worlds 2 that gives me extra skill points but I can't spend into the highest one because I am all over the place in leveling up lmao. I also went Brilliant to begin with (3 specializations). Really leaning into to the Dr. Thaddeus Venture build lol

Trying to get through The Luminous Dead but this book has some of the slowest pacing Iâve ever read. And itâs not like good slow paced like building dread and mood itâs like restating the same thing over and over again, like watching Goku charge the spirit bomb for 10 episodes in DBZ.

One of scienceâs biggest dinosaur debates may finally be settled
For decades, paleontologists debated whether fossils were of a young T. rex or a species called nanotyrannus. A new study settles it: Nanotyrannus is real.

Maybe it's an old-man-yells-at-clouds thing, but I think any Alien narrative that permits softening/control of, or unspoken cooperation with the Alien itself, misses a fundamental tenant of the Alien's identity, that is representing the absolute consequence of delusions of grandeur and greed.
