Indigenous Leadership Matters in Healthcare for Indigenous Communities | Maricelma Fialho Our Ambassador Maricelma Fialho is an Indigenous leader of the Terena people. She shares her powerful journey as a biomedical doctor and researcher dedicated to improving the health and well-being of her community. Maricelma’s speech sheds light on the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Indigenous communities and the crucial role she played in distributing essential supplies such as food and beverages to families in need. Her partnerships with local and international organisations helped hundreds of Indigenous families survive the crisis. Maricelma also represents Brazil at the Youth Leadership Coalition (IYLC) Latin America, advocating for greater civic and political participation of Indigenous youth.
