At the CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND 10(ish) year reunion concert, Rachel Bloom played the Showtime cast announcement video, and cut out the part about Santino Fontana (and thought no one would notice?). I love her, but it bothers me that she acts like he was never on the show. What happened there?

PSA: Tonight is the TCM premiere of THAT THING YOU DO! (followed by THIS IS SPINAL TAP). While it's a little weird that a movie I saw when it came out in theaters is on the classic movie channel, it's still a great lineup and I love battle of the fake bands as a theme.

I need everyone to watch LONG STORY SHORT on Netflix so it gets renewed. I haven't loved a new show in a long time. I've said this about shows before, but I think it's the most Jewish show I've ever seen. And because it's a cartoon, it's able to handle pandemic scenes much better than other shows.

I have quite a few of these, but my best one is Adam Driver in the off-Broadway play The Retributionists in 2009. I don't remember much about the play itself, but I knew he and someone else in the play, Cristin Milioti, had something special.

There was no karaoke on this week's AND JUST LIKE THAT. What a waste of time. It should just be musical theater people singing and nothing else.

I interviewed Lee Wilkof about doing the Torah portion from his own bar mitzvah in THE RESERVOIR, and of course we talked about ASSASSINS.

I hate this timeline so much.

I didn't think I'd get a pride Playbill this year since I didn't go to New York in June, but I guess we have them in LA too.

Oh man. Just saw that DEAD OUTLAW is closing at the end of the month. See it while you can.

I got to interview one of my favorite musical theater writers, David Yazbek. I'm always asking for a DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS revival, so I finally got to talk to him about that. This didn't make it into the article, but he assured me the full DEAD OUTLAW cast recording is coming soon.

Team Wyatt on AND JUST LIKE THAT. His family sucks at Apples to Apples and he had every right to get upset.

The only update I want after the Tony Awards is whether Hue Park is still single.

When MAYBE HAPPY ENDING first opened, I was worried it wouldn't sell well enough to stay open long enough for me to see it, and look at it now.

I did love MAYBE HAPPY ENDING and I'm happy it won best musical. The biggest disappointment (other than the musical lead categories) is that JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN and DEAD OUTLAW are going home empty-handed. #TonyAwards

Darren Criss has a Tony Award before Jeremy Jordan and Andrew Durand. And I know he wasn't nominated this year, but Brian d'Arcy James doesn't even have a Tony! #TonyAwards

Ok I do think that Darren Criss was the best I've seen him in MAYBE HAPPY ENDING, but no way did he deserve to win over these other performances. #TonyAwards

I don't think all the shows sold themselves that well with the #TonyAwards performances, but I love how this season embraced weirdness.

Having Audra do Rose’s Turn as the excerpt of the show is like asking someone to do the storm scene from Lear out of nowhere. Totally bonkers.

It's too bad that DEAD OUTLAW probably won't win anything tonight, but I guess the prize is that it even went to Broadway in the first place. And for me it was one of the best performances of the night. #TonyAwards

I was starting to think I was a jinx because people I interviewed this season keep losing, but Sam Pinkleton won, so I think I'm ok. #TonyAwards

That HAMILTON anniversary performance was a highlights reel designed to be a crowd pleaser and I loved every fucking second of it. #TonyAwards

The #TonyAwards started off kind of slow for me (it wasn't my favorite opening number, though I appreciated the sentiment and the singing, and I didn't see the first performance that won), but it's picking up.

First award of the night goes to MAYBE HAPPY ENDING, which is a good sign for the night. Will Aronson and Hue Park for best book. I hope Hue Park gets a date after that acceptance speech. #TonyAwards

The best thing about watching GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK from my living room on the west coast is not having to navigate Times Square in the rain because there is nothing worse than umbrellas in Times Square crowds.

Watching the pre-show of GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK on CNN and it's a nice touch that they are showing the Playbill photos and credits for the cast and creative team. I hope this live telecast is a success and there will be more like this in the future.

I'm more excited for the Tony Awards this year than I have been in a long time. I really don't know who is going to win in most categories.

Since Milo Manheim is Seymour in LITTLE SHOP right now, it's only a matter of time until he gets nominated for a Tony and I look forward to that day.

Sorry to hear that REDWOOD is the first show to announce a closing after Tony nominations. I didn't love it, but I do think it's an original and ambitious work for Broadway and I'm always happy to see work like that.

Twelve shows in a week. Not bad, but I still didn't get to everything I wanted to see. Congrats to all the Tony nominees in this group!

I can't believe D*rren Cr*ss got a Tony nomination and I'm not mad about it, but MAYBE HAPPY ENDING is his best work. I'm also glad I don't have to worry about having to hear another acceptance speech from K*eran C*lkin this year.
