A thought on why inflation didn't feel like a "big deal" to rich people: We were buying fancy stuff, so when prices went up, we had the ability to adjust down in quality to maintain our overall spending level. Poor people can't do that. They're already buying the cheap eggs.

Here's something I didn't expect: My kids are bored at school because the curriculum is largely stuff they already know, so they are pissed when I have to go to work as a "teacher for college kids" because they think I'm also boring my students and why can't we all just go for a bike ride instead.

I've been looking at cover letters / job packets for a bunch of econ PhD folks going on the job market, esp those interested in liberal arts colleges. Love it! I realize, though, that I believe so strongly in one piece of advice that I want to shout it from this particular rooftop: Use mail merge.
