Just discovered there’s an open teaching position that would be a huge step up in my career. And I genuinely believe I could get it. But if I did, I would have to move away from New England. Which I do not want to do at all. What do you all think?

Atlanta Quest: Happy they got to be streamed after the earlier snafu, because I actually really enjoyed that show. They took some wild swings with the music design, and I genuinely loved it (I’ll never say no to Britney). And the kids looked like they were having a blast. #wgi #drumline

Pulse: That show took several turns design-wise that I was not expecting, and I love when a group can keep me on my toes like that. Beyond that, I loved their energy, and that guitar player was great. #wgi #drumline

Broken City: I was actually surprised by how aggressive the show design got at times, and it makes me excited to see them expand their musical language. But there is still a style they’re known for, and the kids played that style phenomenally. Will definitely watch again. #wgi #drumline

Music City Mystique: That was a fantastic show. Loved the music design and thought there were a lot of cool things happening visually. And if there’s one thing MCM can do, it’s a big ensemble moment. (Also, that front ensemble is one of the best out there. Major props to them.) #wgi #drumline

George Mason University: I deeply admire the gall to do a sequel to last year’s show, and some moment did make me belly-laugh. But I wish they had gone as far with it as they did last year. Those kids were clearly having a blast though, and they played really well. #wgi #drumline

Rhythmic Force: Full disclosure, I taught here for 4 years, so it’s tough for me to be objective. But they crushed that performance. I loved the visual design (especially everything with the lights), and Markworth’s music is still superb. Love these kids, and so happy to see them here. 💚 #wgi

POW: I’m gonna be real, I didn’t understand the show. But I did love the use of color, and I’m always here for a dark reinterpretation of a pop song. (Especially if it’s Kylie.) And those kids played really well. #wgi #drumline

Dark Sky: I honestly loved that show. Simple design that the kids were able to do a lot with. Loved the sound design, and there were many moments where the music got me hyped. (Also, props to the kid handling the electronic issue at the beginning. That’s a pro right there.) #wgi #drumline

Matrix: There was so much happening that I honestly got a little overwhelmed. Lots of cool individual concepts, but definitely feel like I missed stuff. Those kids performed the hell out of it though, loved their energy. #wgi #drumline

Cap City: I liked it! There were some fascinating things happening on a compositional standpoint, and I wish I could have heard the full thing live based on what I saw. Solid visuals as well.

That super fun moment when you were going to ask your boss to add certain shifts, but then a mass email goes out asking people to cut themselves from those shifts. Guess I’m not getting money. 👍🙃

Finally started watching “Overcompensating,” and y’all were right, this show is hysterical. (It also hits way too close to home, but that somehow makes it funnier.)

The only thing that gives me pause is that it’s Disney+. Because listen: the books are gnarly as hell, and way more intense and dark than anyone remembers. It may feature young teens, but it should not be a kids’ show. I do trust Ryan Coogler, so we’ll see.

It has been an incredibly difficult 24 hours for the mental health, and I am trying to hold it together before I accidentally burn a bunch of bridges.

I have a dilemma. I found a job posting that just opened up and is literally perfect for me. Involves data tracking while still being centered on music. And one of my best friends is a higher up. Only issue? Pay isn’t great. Barely better than what I just left. Not sure what to do about this.

Learning I have no tolerance for people that can’t have difficult conversations with me before talking about me in public. 👍

Just got off a call with HR of the job I just resigned from where I learned that, through some legal bullshit, I somehow owe them money. Lots of it too. So they’re just determined to completely fuck me over. Cool. Glad to know that all the time and hard work I gave them meant absolutely nothing.
