Yesterday, Mrs Barnes, along with her Bourne View companions, visited us to see her great-grandmother Harriet Dowdell's patchwork quilt. The quilt is made from everyday fabrics dating back to the 1830’s. Now it's a treasured part of our social history collection, kindly donated by Mrs Barnes. 🧵

Commemorating VJ Day Salisbury’s Jim Smith joined the RAF in 1941, was captured in 1942, and spent 3½ years as a Japanese POW in brutal conditions. His son, Ken, volunteers at The Salisbury Museum, where Jim’s artefacts are displayed. We honour all who sacrificed for our tomorrow.
