I'm doing gauge swatches for two different sweaters. Using the recommended needle sizes, both of the initial swatches are off. One I will need to size up a needle size, one down. And then swatch again. It's pretty interesting to see this happening, and it's good practice for the final sweater?

I finished my Whispering Whiskers Shawlette! I know I say this for everything, but it was so much fun. I learned a lot, and I already miss working on it enough that I am about to wind up my second hank of Brown Tabby yarn, 🧶, so I can start knitting another one!

My Gothic Lace Cowl, Chaos Purl Edition, is done! Or at least, it's off the needles, washed, and drying. I still need to weave in the ends and figure out the buttons, both size and color. This was really fun, even if I probably frogged enough to knit two cowls along the way. 🧶

Fluffy is Hungry, and needs Extra Breakfast. He's happy to work for it in the form of puzzles. I think he sees the work as a bonus. It's that time of year where his body suddenly remembers that he needs to grow a heavier coat, and that takes extra fuel.

Fluffernutter has, the last few days, requested that I hand- or spoon-feed him a few pieces of wet food (it's a dense meatloaf consistency), before he eats his breakfast, which is a mix of wet food and kibble. He's absolutely adorable, and of course he gets his breakfast appetizer.

I was trying the maize mittens: tincanknits.com/pattern/maiz... After my first one, I realized that I'd used DPNs two sizes larger. When I checked my gauge, it was still too small! I was nervous about my knitting falling off the needles, and knit too tightly. I'll try to relax for the next one. 🧶

Having one of those days where my ambition wildly outruns my mental capacity: I somehow lost ground on the Whispering Whiskers Shawlette (www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...), I can't even break even. So, it's time for a break. I'll get there, it just might not be today. And I'll learn a lot as I do.

Update on purling vs knitting the garter edges: Purling the edges seems to have given me a few extra centimeters in width at the bottom. And it's been pretty fun! (I learned how to Norwegian Purl for this!) This is unblocked, of course. We'll have to wait and see how that goes. 🧶

My dog has this small (for him) fuzzy black mat that I taught him to settle on. We call it his Settle Mat. I recently gave it a brushing to remove the dog hair, because it was more gray than black, and put it on the floor because we were doing nose work. He's been napping on it ever since.

I made meatloaf, and used up most of my daily energy budget. In about 30 minutes of being upright. I knew this would happen, and did it anyway. It's a trade-off. I freeze most of it, and microwave it as I need food, so my meals for the rest of the week are much lower effort.

I have been freezing cooked quinoa in a silicone butter stick mold, and I would recommend this, if it's within the energy budget. For me, it's just the right amount to add to the other bits of things I try to keep in the freezer, to turn it into a reasonable meal. #ChronicIllness

I am trying out a new freezing strategy for my food: I have this silicone butter stick tray, and I filled it with cooked quinoa. So far, it seems to be helpful. Given my current issues, it seems to be just the right amount to add to my other frozen bits and pieces, to create a coherent meal.

Working with Sunshine on how to move around our bathroom, so that I can eventually give him a bath. We've done this before, but we have moved, so now we are doing it again. Right now, the game is he gets chicken if he sets foot in the bathroom. And then I lure him back out again, and repeat.
