Snow hanging out west and south of Edmonton right now. ECCC calling for 5+ cm overnight into tomorrow morning. This combined with 30 km/h winds gusting to 50 tomorrow morning is the reason for the yellow level blowing snow advisories.

Freezing rain coming though the city and it’s due to a temperature inversion. It’s about -11°C on the surface while about 500m up it’s 8°C causing rain to fall and not snow. A warning in place for freezing rain.

Not a bad forecast for this week, a couple fairly cold overnight's and we're getting some precip Wednesday night into Thursday as we'll see rain change to periods of snow. We'll know more about totals as we get closer but as of right now we could be around 5cm.

Edmonton has seen its first frost. Not too many places in Alberta that are above freezing this morning. The “hot spot” at 4.1°C is Egg Island, which is in the middle of Lake Athabasca. The cold spots are Leedale (by Rimbey) and Abee (by Thorhild) at -9.8°C.

The AQHI is currently 10. Expect smoke to start dissipating today and we should be back to normal by tomorrow. Also, while we're here. The growing season has come to an end, so ECCC will no longer be issuing frost advisories, check local forecasts for temps.
