Adopted a cat this past Monday and he's settled in very well. Named him Odo because cats are liquids and he in particular melts into my pets.

Finally got around to starting Deep Soace Nine the other day. Already five episodes in and am hooked.

Watching Bombshell on PBS while in the middle of reading The Most Awful Responsibility by Alex Wellerstein is quite flooring. Knowing how different reality was from what we were taught is, as always, sobering.

I've put in an application to adopt a cat from the shelter. He and I immediately hit it off when I was volunteering there the other day. Melted into my pets. Thinking of calling him Odo.

I think the main reason I still have more fun playing Civ VI instead of VII isn't due to any of the new mechanics (ages, decoupling of leaders and civs, etc). It's the dearth of fun subsystems that add depth. Governors, eurekas/inspirations, canals, unique suzerain bonuses.

At the #LouisvilleOrchestra tonight for their wonderful performance of Hungarian music with Yuja Wang. Intermission right now so I'm putting down some of my thoughts so far.

Habitat for Humanity's Love Our Community Day here in the Parkland neighborhood went fantastically. Amazing organization and amazing turnout by the community to come help each other. Often things look bleak but days like today, when people don't just give money but the sweat of their brows? ♥️♥️♥️

Learned how to prune trees properly today at a @TreesLouisville workshop. Loved helping take care of some gorgeous redbuds, lilacs, paperbark maples, and others.

Drizzly late spring Saturday mornings are wonderful. I truly love Kentucky.

I love how great the weather has been recently. It's been great for my gardening.

Between her roles as Vanessa in The Goes Wrong Show and Nine-Fingers in Baldur's Gate 3, Bryony Corrigan's portrayal of someone desperately trying to maintain their composure amidst utter nonsense surrounding her is masterful. It's really tough to play the straight person and she's nailed it.

I bought my house two years ago and since then have had an electrician, a plumber, two HVAC people, and a gutter company come out to do work on my house. Every single time, something is left either undone or done wrong. Is this a Louisville thing? Are local companies just trash at doing a good job?

Was lying awake in bed thinking about a work problem that's been bugging me since last week. Finally figured it out and of course had to get out of bed and write it down before I forgot. Freaking engineering brain costing me beauty sleep.

In this year's April from Hell, not only was my workplace wiped out by a tornado last week and I was given less than 24 hours notice for a long convoluted work trip, but the wheels were stolen off my rental car while it was parked in the hotel parking lot. It's only the 11th.....

Tornado wiped out my workplace yesterday morning. Guess I'm working from home for the forseeable future. Thankfully the tornado missed my desk so my oxalis, alocasia, and philodendrons were all okay.

One thing I love about my redbud tree I planted a couple years ago is that in April when I walk out my front door the first thing I see is the beautiful flowers on it.

Oof and Racing Louisville just let in a goal.

I missed the season opener but watching Racing Louisville now. Their unis are straight fire. Hyped to watch DeMelo and Flint anchor this midfield.

At this point I think the only things enjoying this weather are the seeds I sowed in milk jugs and left outside. They love the cold wet weather.

Went to see The Importance of Being Earnest put on by Kentucky Shakespeare last night. Exceeded all my expectations. Loved it. Highly recommend.

Finally dug myself out of my driveway today. Severely sloped driveway + snow shovel that broke within twenty minutes of use + snow & ice + small sedan = a bit of a pickle. I won't be able to get back up the driveway slope but I can just barely get out of the road.

Started out the new year by building birdhouses. Sparrow-resistant bluebird house? Challenge accepted.

One of the best things about Christmas is getting to give family members and friends gifts that they will love, but in a way that messes with them at the same time.

Been reading Jemar Tisby's book The Spirit of Justice and one takeaway I'm getting strongly is that the people who resisted the social and legal pressure often did so knowing that they were going to suffer and they did it anyway.

I really miss having a phone with the sideways slide-out keyboard. Typing on a touchscreen drives me nuts. I'd love to see a phone like the old LG Rumor Touch, but with a slightly larger screen. I loved that phone.

It's very annoying when pub trivia asks questions for which the answer depends on what region of the country you happen to be from. For example: whirligigs/whirlybirds/helicopters for maple seed pods. I've heard all three! I have no idea which one you're looking for!

I have discovered the perfect word for when your cat is relaxing on your lap or next to you, perfectly calm and purring, then for no apparent reason they just up and leave. Absquatulate: means to leave abruptly. If that isn't a word perfect for cats I don't know what is.

Watched God & Country yesterday. Very eye-opening. Just more proof that power and money corrupt anything they touch. I wish our leaders (political and spiritual) would focus on calming the fears of the nation rather than stoking them.

It was a huge mistake for restaurants to now ask for a name for your order. In the loud fast-food environment, it's far too easy for them to mishear and write down the wrong name, leading to more confusion than if they just gave you a number. I hate this practice so much and wish I could opt out.
