Personal taste really isn't the same as qualitative assessment. It's nice to feel that we only like master works, but you're allowed to just like things without justifying it. Qualitative assessments are valuable and important (media literacy is based), but that shouldn't get wrapped up in our ego.

It's weird that people complain about having to respect other people's pronouns, but they do it literally every day without thinking. They call cis people by their preferred pronouns and would be mortified if they misgendered them on accident, largely because it would be taken as an insult.
