Without fail, budget talk/deficits mean liberal types immediately suggest PST without a single thought for the disproportionate harm it would cause poor/disabled/unhoused folks. What a shock. 🙄 And you think increased revenue would go to fund services under this government? Don’t make me laugh.

When governments ignore all legal avenues of dissent, maybe “progressives” will finally realize that direct action, community organizing, mutual aid, and caring for/protecting your most vulnerable neighbours first and foremost is the only way forward. There’s no voting our way out of where we are.

We NEED non-disabled people to care about this. The government clearly doesn’t care what disabled people need or want. We need the rest of you to raise hell and get them to back off. This is literally life and death.

The GoA has disincentivized the transition back to AISH in December 2027 by requiring that they provide a new disability assistance medical report. Those with "exceptional cases" will not have to do this. Here is the link to the public survey open until Sept 12 www.alberta.ca/alberta-disa...

Without the carbon tax rebate, many of us with low income -especially those of us on disability and below the poverty line- will have yet another gap in our budgets. Par for the course, I guess.

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs. However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

If you are serious about supporting your neighbors and the vulnerable members of your community, you will need to ask them about their unmet needs and take them seriously when they tell you what they are. You will need to learn not to say sentences starting with "Well can't you just...?"

If you are serious about supporting your neighbors and the vulnerable members of your community, you will also need to go out of your way to address inconvenient needs that have pushed those people out of community in the past. This includes requiring masking and air cleaners.

If you are serious about supporting your neighbors and the vulnerable members of your community, this absolutely and by definition means intentionally acknowledging and addressing some basic inclinations, like the one that says to abandon people who aren't always able to be there when you want them.

This is not something that can be put on the people who have been abandoned and isolated to correct. It cannot be made their responsibility to connect or re-connect with those who previously decided it was, for one reason or another, easier not to try.

So when it comes to "grow community locally" stuff, here's something non-Disabled folks especially have to figure out how to counter. There is a long-standing pattern where chronically ill people, even those who previously had extensive support networks and community, are abandoned and isolated.

There will be calls to leave behind people more vulnerable than you this year. Many people will. You won’t.

[TW: Pet Death] . . Finally sharing. Cheerio’s health really took a downturn over the holidays & after consulting with the vet, I made the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make and opted for at home euthanasia. As of this morning, my best friend of 17.5 years is gone.

It’s been hard to have enough energy to post any personal updates, and it’s also felt like there isn’t much new other than the continuing saga of health awfulness and never ending crashes. But I’m still here. And Cheerio is keeping me company.

A couple extra hours waiting & upright without my upper body well-supported. And it's wrecked me. Can barely read anything on here. Can barely listen to anything. Can barely move to take care of us. Severe pain. Days later. That's where I'm at now.😞That's how little it takes. #PwME #MECFS
