On 29 April, the European Parliament proposed a five year moratorium on krill fisheries in the Southern Ocean. Members also expressed concern over the growth and concentration of krill fishing in Antarctic waters, emphasizing the increasing threat this industry poses to the Antarctic ecosystem.

🌊 You love the ocean and want to protect it, but information about fishing vessels can feel distant and easy to overlook.

Antarctica is no longer a distant horizon. Our campaign is now underway. ❄️🌊 After a long transit south, we have reached the krill fishing grounds and, as expected, wildlife is everywhere. 🐋🐧 Seabirds, seals, whales. Life concentrated in the same waters targeted by the industrial fleet.

Four weeks at sea; land at last. 🌊🏔️ Ushuaia is our final stop before Antarctica, a moment to breathe before heading back into the Drake Passage. Toward the cold. Toward the fleet. This is where the journey shifts from transit to action. Filmed and edited live on board.

We are in #Antarctica to protect krill, a tiny yet vital species that many depend on—such as whales and other wildlife in the #SouthernOcean. 🦐🐋 Currently, large super trawlers are destroying this environment to fish #krill for an unnecessary market. We must stop this.
