We had our first snowfall today, so naturally, but completely unrelatedly, I decided today was my Clarke Griswold day. The good news is the lights are up (but will remain off until Nov. 1st). The bad news: that’s also the timeframe for when my hands will finally warm up, too.

Just trolling the open water in my boat, “Up In Them Guts,” marvelling at the sick water mechanics, filling my daily fish quota, rocket-blasting passing go-fast’s, stealing their drugs, and heading back to land to complete the “Drug Up From the Depths” side quest. #GTA6

Tonight, as the setting sun scorched the sky with a fiery hue, the fog crept up from the field across from us. It enveloped the land and tricked my eyes with vanishing shapes.

My youngest, who’s obsessed with big tires and anything with tires in general, decided the entire duration of the mud bogs would be a great time to nap. He’s also the child who’ll sleep whenever and wherever, which was evident as the trucks ROARED THROUGH THE MUD PAST THE SLEEPING CHILD for hours…

I gave my 4yo a couple Lego minifigs, a Yeti and an Astronaut. He loves them… but not as much as he loves the Galileo Galilei minifig he found and is now his best friend.

We’ve been without our bed for over a month during this move, but we finally unearthed it from the sea can and then were graced with this sunset from our new porch. Things are all coming together after a loooong move zzzzzzz…

The occasional crack of a can opening does break the silence, but it is by my own doing, so I’ll allow it.

Sitting on the back porch of the new house surrounded by silence. Not just because of it’s rural setting, but because everyone else is in bed—including my boys who I swear are the two loudest kids on Earth… The chaos of unloading the sea can begins tomorrow, so I’m going to enjoy this.

Rolled up to the beer store in my minivan. I hopped out with a beard looking like steel wool with all the greys coming in. I held the door open for an elderly man as I entered. AND I STILL GOT ID’D. I pulled my hammy as I left due to too much pep in my step.

We’re in the process of a big move and living in a sea of boxes and half-packed anarchy, but the only area that will remain untouched until the minute we step out of this house for the last time is the coffee bar. Rightfully so.

We made a last-minute decision to have an impromptu multi-day Moving Sale this weekend because we’re wild and love living on the edge (that’s a lie—I hate it). We’re going no signs, just vibes (FB ads). We aren’t prepared in any way, we just have a garage of stuff. Let’s goooo.

Like an idiot, I made the fatal mistake of trying to pack up the kids toys into moving boxes while a kid was still present. So now that bin of Duplo that hasn’t been touched in months is now the latest and greatest MUST-HAVE. I will now shift my packing to after bedtime, with the cover of darkness.

Fun, yadda yadda. Family sucks yadda yadda. It’s for the kids etcetra etcetra. I need a drink pretty please.

I guess we were a “complete buzz kill” for correcting their beliefs. It turns out they have no idea how much of a buzz I get from making them squirm in their discomfort, nor do they care how much of my buzz (and I earned the fuck out of this buzz) they killed by their racist banter. Been kind of roughing it in Northern BC since the start of summer break and the boys are absolutely feral. There may be no turning back from this.

Driving all day with the kids is fine and dandy until you get a few hours in and the “DON'T MAKE ME TURN THIS CAR AROUND” threat loses its power. Everyone in that car knows Dad’s driven too far. He’s passed the point of no return.

With today being the last day of the school year, I get to turn off the recurring alarm that hasn’t been useful in months because it was set for a time well after being awoken by children who consider the slightest daylight as “morning,” but the minute I turned it off, they’d sleep in.

Got the first tornado warning/alert of the year so I guess Summer can officially begin.

If you haven't watched Dept. Q on Netflix yet, you need to rectify that IMMEDIATELY. Not just because I want alllllllllllllllll the views to ensure we get a season two, but most importantly, it’s one of the best shows—not just of the detective variety—that I’ve ever watched. Just watch it, would ya?

We’re spending the weekend doing the age-old tradition of holding a garage sale, making some money and spending twice the amount on pizza because no one has energy to cook!

Really enjoying Dept. Q on Netflix! I love a great “Misfits join together begruggingly and learn to gel” story. Detective Morck’s anger and sarcasm is juxtaposed beautifully by Akram’s calm and calculated demeanour. And those accents 👌 Anyone else watching it? #Scriptsky
