My house is 28° at 22.15, which is 9° hotter than outside. WHYYYYY IS THERE NO RESPITE?!

I expected to wake up to a lovely cool house today after the storm last night and the area being moved to Amber warning. But no, my house was 27° at 6am. And I’m driving to a red area for lunch that was booked ages ago.

Seems Zeus has found where I live after all these years! So much lightning, my window has lit up about 30 times. ⚡️⚡️⚡️

I thought I was being haunted but it turns out my bin lid has warped in the heat and makes a weird woowoowoowoo as it closes. Either that or our bins are becoming fissures to hell into which were being sucked. Probably that.

I bought a high capacity charging unit two days ago to go with the low capacity chargers I keep for phones, cat fountain etc. And I bought a solar panel to recharge it if the powers out tomorrow too. Preppers unite!

Lady Guinevere before her first vet check up. She was a cutie patootie and they all loved her. The vet thinks she’s actually 7 or 8 weeks not 9 as her eyes are still turning. She’s underweight, unsurprising given her back ground. She has a big appetite so that’ll soon get sorted.

I put her on a heated cushion pad but she wanted to snuggle.

New members of the household, Lady Guinevere of the Trym (Nia to her friends). She was born in an industrial barn on a farm 9 weeks ago. She’s a bit wiffy so needs a wash once she’s settled but for now she’s got a full tummy and is very sleepy.

When my mum died her cat sitters moved in. They needed a place to live and I needed mum’s cats to have some stability. Perfect. They’ve been very good cat parents. And now squirrel parents. They rescued an orphaned baby and raised it for the past two months.

Baby Bob went to his new home. I really miss his big character. I wish I could have kept him!

I walked up the Mount Without tower earlier and I can say, as someone who potholed the Keyhole cave, that the narrow staircase filled with spiders and flanked back & front by other people so there was no reversing out…It was not my favourite thing to do in 30C in a floaty skirt.

The celery looked glorious earlier in the allotment so I cut a bunch with herbs and made a lovely celery soup with a hunk of spelt loaf toast I’d made the other day.
