I understand that television is more cinematic than ever, but the fact that we've normalized 2-3 year gaps between seasons of popular programs is still insane to me. We used to get 16+ episodes for hour-long shows/23+ for half-hour shows; they'd take a 3-month hiatus, and they'd be back in the Fall.
