Can't speak for Silksong but the biggest problem with runbacks in Hollow Knight is that they're boring. There's hardly any reason to get a game over outside of boss fights so you're just running through the same path every time you retry the boss. It's not difficult, it's tedious.

Finished Hollow Knight. The final boss gave me a lot of trouble... until I realized that in the second phase, you can just hang out in the middle of the arena where it's easy to dodge her attacks. She'll come to you eventually if you're patient.

People are mad about the Sly Cooper situation but any way you slice it, it's a lose/lose situation. There's basically no avenue that will satisfy people. Best thing to do is just make the old games available for purchase, which, guess what, they already did.
