The zone scheme that would make more buses more useful to more people (what transit is for!) and not cost more to implement than it would collect would be a "Short" zone: Free fare on the last inbound mile of routes to KP.

RIPTA proves government CAN provide a valuable service efficiently. It may not be the best bus system but damn, it's the best bus system anyone could have for what we spend. Politicians should be boasting about that. Cutting it is the real waste.

Upset about the price to park at Providence Place Mall? Consider this. I live 1.3 miles away and can walk the round trip in less time than it often takes to maneuver a car into and out of the garage. A nicer time too. The bus is even faster including the wait.

"Cowpath cities" irregular intersections are a pain for vehicles but advantage humans. Streets running every which way are how bikers and walkers find nice direct routes. Odd intersections do not slow their travel. Waiting for cars does.
