Week 8 - Write Prompts 1. Compare and contrast two works you have visited. Patrick Kelly's Pool Ball Dress and the Joseon Dynasty Cosmetic Box seem very different. The dress is bold and playful, while the cosmetic box is elegant and detailed.

Week 8 - Denver Art Museum I was able to go this week to the museum. The next piece I focused on was more related to my experience in South Korea. I went to the "Arts of Asia" exhibits, specifically the South Korean exhibit.

Week 7 - Write Prompts 1. Is there such a thing as "normal" art? The Pool Ball Dress made me question whether "normal" art exists. A dress covered in pool balls seems unusual, but many artworks once did too. What we call "normal" often depends on the viewer's expectations.

Week 6 - Write Prompts 1. Can a USB stick be a work of art? Sort of. Maybe not the USB stick itself, but the content that is held inside the USB stick can absolutely be a work of art. I think of a USB stick as the case that "protects" the artwork.

Week 6 - Denver Art Museum I revisited the Chantet Lane painting this week. I viewed the painting from far away on a bench. The painting looks smooth, flawless, realistic. It feels like a portal to that location in Mexico more than a painting. A masterpiece.

Week 5 - Write Prompts 1. How rapidly or slowly do the meanings in a work reveal themselves to you? Usually it depends on the piece. Though, the majority of the time the meanings in a work reveal themselves really slowly to me after I spend a long time examining the artwork.

Week 4 - Write Prompts 1. How do we start? Do we necessarily have naive responses to art as a starting point? With the basics. We create an image in our mind of the artwork. We have a form of naive response to art at the beginning. We start from the basics of reflection.

Week 3 - Write Prompts 1. How does the artist's choice of material(s) influence your reading of the work? I interpret material choice as purposeful and meaningful to the story of the piece. Whether the material is reflective (could represent self-reflection) or other material.

Week 2 - Museum of Contemporary Art Denver My hope is to focus more Sammy Seung-Min Lee's art exhibition the most. Looking at details spending more time focusing on one specific art piece in the exhibition.

So excited to go back. I want to explore more on Sammy Seung-min Lee and observe her artwork more closely with more research and background information. I am curious to see how my view changes after learning more about the artist.

A beautiful piece of art of symmetry. Very pleasing to the eye. I had sat and viewed this art piece for a few minutes to take in the art.

Another eye catching piece "A la hora de naufragio y de la oscuridad, alguien, te rescatará" reminded me of breaking free of the darkness. Just as described by the artist, darkness collapse hierarchies of colors.

"Segiumos Cantando" a stunning piece that really captured my eye. As soon as I turned the corner I was drawn to it. The vibrant pink colors of a waterfall. Very eye catching of a piece.

Week 1 - Museum of Contemporary Art Denver Such an amazing experience. I have wanted to go to this museum for a few years now but have never had the time to visit. On the way to the museum there was traffic. It's raining now. Hopefully the ride back will be a calm one.

As soon as I entered the museum... the "Dumpling Diaspora" art piece caught my eye. As someone with an Asian background I am always drawn to learn more about my culture. It showed the beauty of different Asian cultures TOGETHER, not apart, which is what is broadly heard in research.
