Nematode Monday: Southern Root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) galls on roots of soybean from a variety trial in Alabama in 2022. How Exciting! Plant parasitic nematodes are microscopic roundworms that feed on plants by piercing their cell walls. They are a major threat to crops worldwide 🧪

Exciting data showed by Ana Zotta! She observed that +Mi virulent root-knot nematodes are related to several deletions (Even up to 1.2Mb!) across the genome. However, they come with a fitness cost!

Excellent talk by @B_Mol_ (Crop Science Centre - University of Cambridge) on the effector repertoire of Heterodera schachtii!
