Found this beauty a couple of hours ago. About 4x the size of the Scarabs that I have seen here. Get a look at its antennae! When i tried to urge it into a cup and move away from the pool, it made a noise! 😳 A sort-of buzz or click/hiss ? Possibly Polyphylla cavifrons. Waiting on confirmation.

The Sunflowers bloomed later last year.

So. Many. Caterpillars. We were moving the big fat fatties into the seperate pupation enclosure. We tried to keep caterpillars of same size together. Caterpillars wandering over a newly formed, soft chrysalis is always fatal. #BeKind #MonarchRanch #PlantMilkweed.

My apple tree I grew from a seed that had begun germinating inside the apple. I had to leave it behind in San Diego, the climate here in Arizona is much too harsh. *sigh* I haven't asked about it, I'd rather think it lives on.

This Monarch butterfly was a lesson in patience, and kindness, and heartbreak. We cared for her for 6 months. She could take nectar and flutter, but could not fly. She got nectar offered 3x/day and filtered sun every day. She was a very good butterfly. #oe Always #BeKind. #MonarchRanch
