Just saw Ekko Astral opening for Jeff Rosenstock and PUP. They were pretty great!

Mountain Goats were fun, even though I only knew two songs! Also, I'm surprised I've never been to the Windjammer. Pretty decent, small outdoor venue.

Going to lots of shows this week! Cloud Nothings last Sunday, Mountain Goats tonight, and Jeff Rosenstock tomorrow.

Went to see Cloud Nothings open for Superheaven and ended up leaving 2 or 3 songs into Superheaven's set. They weren't bad, just... uninteresting. Cloud Nothings killed it though.

Ashley and I just watched the cinematic masterpiece that is Spice World, and I never realized how nuts they went with casting in that movie. Meat Loaf? Alan Cumming? Elvis Costello? Stephen Fry AND Hugh Laurie? 10/10, no notes.

There's a vinyl bootleg series of NPR Tiny Desk performances that are pretty cool, but so far they've only done some of the bigger names (Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Tyler, etc.). I'd love to get physical copies of the sets by Superorganism, Illuminati Hotties, Wet Leg, Mitski, TMBG...

Lucked out and got a copy of the original 2004 press of Good News For People Who Love Bad News in great condition for only $30 on eBay. I don't listen to this album very often lately but it's always a good one to revisit.

I know the topic has been beat to death, but the increase in concert ticket prices just in the last few years is insane. I saw Paul McCartney in 2022 and tickets were already super high - we paid $400/ea. for floor seats around 30 rows back.

I've listened to the new Wet Leg album a few times now and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being my album of the year. I think adding Joshua, Ellis, and Henry as official members of the band has helped them expand their sound in a great way.

I've accidentally developed a schedule for how I spend my Saturdays when my wife is at work: wake up, go to the gym, come home, take a shower, record some music, go to Taco Bell, come home and record some more music. Sometimes there's a nap in there somewhere after lunch.

Modest Mouse in Charlotte was so good but I feel like we got robbed of what would have been a much better encore. Hopefully I'll get another chance to see them play "Lives" sometime.

This is the second time I've gone to a Modest Mouse show that was cancelled after the opener played.

We got to see Doug Martsch and then the venue was evacuated due to lightning. Waiting for news about whether we'll be let back in or the show is cancelled...

Just realized that today is not only the 20th anniversary of my first Modest Mouse concert, but also the 25th anniversary of my favorite Modest Mouse album. Anyway, I'm going to Asheville to see Modest Mouse tonight.

Oh man, RIP Brian Wilson. Can't say I'm surprised considering he seemed to be in poor health for a while now, but still sad. No doubt one of the best pop songwriters ever.

I found out that this existed and someone had it for $3 on Discogs so I had to get it.

I've now listened to the last two Spirit of the Beehive albums and I think I can safely say that I'm not really into Spirit of the Beehive.

The Mink Car album by @tmbg.bsky.social took a while to grow on me, but now I think it's one of my favorites. Linnell is at his weirdo best with stuff like "I've Got a Fang" and "My Man," while Flansburgh's "Another First Kiss" is a great earnest love song. Not a bad song on the album, honestly.
