Just hours after #MarkCarney was sworn in as Canada's prime minister, Collingwood Neighbourhood House, along with a group of neighbourhood house organizations in Vancouver, called on federal parties to address rising anti-immigrant sentiment ahead of an imminent election.

MP Jenny Kwan implies that the federal government failed to consider the impact of decreased immigration onto the Canadian GDP and less choices for domestic students as universities close departments. She emphasizes how policy blame cast on immigrants have led to hate towards ethnic minorities.

Earlier this year, we announced that federal funding for settlement programs at CNH would be fully cut by March 31, 2025. These cuts affect services for newcomers across Canada. At CNH, this impacts several programs, 20 staff and countless participants.
