Yorkshire Birder, Patch birder at North Cave Wetlands, Bird Recorder for North Cave Wetlands.
Black-crowned Night Heron. Perhaps one of the surprises of the year on my local patch of North Cave Wetlands was this adult, presumably last year's returning bird. The bird gave good views at times over its 9 day stay.

These 3 Bewick's Swans were a pleasant surprise on my local patch at North Cave Wetlands this morning, when they flew onto Crosslands Lake. They spent just under an hour on the reserve as they swam, fed and preened before eventually flying off South.

Bewick's Swan is not as regular in Yorkshire as it used to be, so it was good to see these 3 adults near Faxfleet, East Yorkshire, this morning. Also seen in the same flock were 16 Whooper Swans, several Mute Swans, Pink-footed Geese, and a few Canada Geese.
