Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) have recently been posting on social media about changes to the price of their nNetwork ticket prices from 1st March 2026, however the wording of these posts seem to have been confusing some people.

I do think it was a bit underhand to give passengers only two weeks notice of these price increases, and I do sympathise with anyone who is affected, but as we shall see, it's not the end of the world, as the alternative would have been far worse.

From 15th June 2025, bus fares will be changing. Due to the continued steep rise in industry costs, including overheads and labour, a review of fares has been necessary to ensure the bus network remains operating at current levels whilst still being able to cover costs.

Having read through the documents provided, I will start this opinion piece by stating that I am not opposed to the idea of bus franchising in principle, and there are various aspects to it that I would agree with and support.

The pre-Christmas offer of a free evening bus service saw passenger numbers increase by a third across the region. Now, the Mayor has today announced that there will be a completely free bus service all day on New Years Day.

From Sunday 5 January 2025, there will be changes to bus stops near Moor Street Queensway, Carrs Lane, Priory Queensway and Corporation Street. Additional stops will be available and the main changes are listed below.

From Monday 23rd December to Friday 3rd January, there will be changes to bus timetables during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

Following a review of services operated under contract to TfWM, some bus services will be withdrawn or replaced from Sunday 5th January, while others will have a change of operator.
