I recalled a piece of ads I saw on TV quite frequently when I was a child, back in the late 80s, in China. It was about some sort of medication against some sort of worms. There was someone, maybe a doctor, explaining why with the new formula, we don't see the dead worms in stool anymore.

I started listening to Hyperion in audio book because I got a free trial on audible. Over the years, I tried and tried to get into audio books but I always failed because I can’t focus enough. Either I fell in sleep or I start to think about something and realise too late I didn’t follow anything.

Picture Blade Runner, the 1997 game, and. You use that computer to expand the picture to check for clues, and you identify the potential rogue bot’s car plate number. You go and arrest the target only to realise, too late, that the zoom uses generative ai and the number wasn’t correct.

MacGyver, Quantum Leap, Buffy, etc., I grew up watching those shows every day in France… and I just realised that not only I’ve never seen any of these endings, I’ve also never watched any episode in the right order.

Been listening to Faye for hours. The best singer of all time. That voice. That absolute clarity. The way she pronounces every word. The way she captures the emotion. She doesn’t sing, she owns, and she becomes the song.

Just watched Exit 8 and I wasn't expecting it to be that good. Not only it does a good job at monopolising the key aspects of the IP, it also adds many great elements to it, making it richer, and sill coherent. The movie is simple and effective, just like the game.

Just watched 28 years later: The Bone Temple. I wasn't expecting the franchise to take that direction. I had fun watching it tho. Giant dick is still giant but less of a dick. And I'm happy that the real bad guy died miserably. That ending tho. Fan service or something fr? Can't wait for the finale.

I want to play Avowed (still don’t know how to properly pronounce it) but it doesn’t come in physical version. And the PS5 version, that might have a disk, doesn’t offer the same quality as on PC/XB. So hard to play video games in 2026 still.

Started watching Pluribus. 2 eps in. Very fun show. I like the setting and the acting. I hope the story evolves towards something unexpected because so far, it feels quite safe.

DICE reminds my favourite video game convention in the US because everything happens in one place, so it’s easier to meet friends. Despite how much I dislike casinos, dry air, bad smell, noise, etc. tho. The problem tho is the moment you get out of the Aria, the traffic is unbearable.

I dislike night club. But that morning ritual when I wake up and I see my wife changing, and without any music, I start dancing like Donkey Kong and she starts dancing too, that’s awesome.

John Wick Experience (Area 15) was pretty fun. The decor, the acting, the pacing, everything I well executed. It respects the IP. I highly recommend people to go full stacked and not try their luck MM. We got paired with some random folks and they were drunk, completely destroyed the atmosphere.

Just watched The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere in Vegas. It is much more immersive than I expected. But the use of AI completely eliminates all the textures and reduces the charm of those pictures. First time watching this movie in English too, and I had so much trouble understanding the accents.

I met Warren Spector. I don’t even know what to say. Nor I don’t know what to write. I’m so happy. I still can’t believe I get to meet so many legends. I’ve been told to not meet my heroes. I guess I’ve always been rebellious so I didn’t listen and I try to meet all of them all the time.

La dernière fois que j’étais aussi dégoûté de mon club c’était lors du départ du plus grand entraîneur du monde, Bielsa. J’ai eu l’annonce hier soir. Je n’ai pas fermé l’œil de la nuit à cause de ça. De Zerbi est, tout comme Bielsa, parfait pour l’OM. J’en veux à tout le monde aujourd’hui.

As a kid, I used to laugh hard, like to death. Some of the vivid memories I have are laughing watching Dragon Ball or The Mask for the first time with my mother, reading Dr Slump at Fnac, or listening to a stupid joke from a friend at school. I mean laughing really, really hard. Non stop.

Just watched Rental Family. An extraordinary movie that depicts the complexity of the Japanese society on the surface and truly is about the complexity of human emotions and relationships. I wasn't expecting such a movie. And Brendan Fraser is extraordinary in this role.

This is one of the best pieces of content I’ve watched in years. Since I’ve retired, I’ve reduced my usage of digital media and I almost don’t watch streaming anymore. I’m glad I’ve been told about this. It is comprehensive and understandable. Great work.

Just played about an hour of split fiction with my brother in-law, a legit console player, and what a blast. Funny because I’ve played all the games from the studios with either PC-only or mobile-only players. It’s quite interesting how much it changes. I never realised the difference is that big.

Watched Caught Stealing. I always wanted to watch it since I've seen the poster in my local cinema. I like the actors very much. It is brutal, visceral, and at the same time, has some beautiful shots. But the scene that I keep in mind is that HK bar with someone singing 月亮代表我的心 in the background.

Just started Stellar Blade, a game many told me to try as I play tons of action games and specifically those from Platinium. But about an hour into it, I’m so bored. Sure, graphically, it’s stunning. The rendering techniques are amazing, and I’m glad I have a PS5 Pro to run it properly.

Somehow, I really wanted to play PES 6. And I realised that I might be able to run it on my Steam Deck through emulator. And it is fabulous. It is truly the ultimate football game I dreamt of when I was a kid. It still plays so well. It is the perfect balance between realism and video game.

Started playing Terminator 2D: No Fate. What an absolute blast. I knew @bitmapbureau.com are talented, I played and enjoyed all their games so far, but I didn’t know they would deliver so hard on this one. It really captures the essence of the franchise, serves some really cool bits of fan services.

Stay reading The Memory Police (Yōko Ogawa). Bought it because the cover looks cool and the title is kinda mysterious. I had no idea what the book is about, tho I suspected some sort of science fiction involved. After 4 chapters, I’m quite into it.

I started playing ICO, PS2. I had the game forever. I think I got it at release actually. I even bought the remaster on PS3 years later. But somehow, I never finished it. I probably lacked the maturity to fully appreciate it back then. I still dislike linear puzzles and the combats are terrible.

It is the first time that almost none of my European game developer friends is coming to DICE/GDC.

The Sadness (哭悲) is the funniest and most outrageous movie about covid I've watched. It reminds me of those old super violent HK movies in the 80s-90s. Absolutely insane. I don't remember watching something so crazy in decades.

Played some Colin MacRae Rally on my PS. The game is still so good. Codemasters absolute geniuses. I took for granted how amazing those games were and I can only understand how much of that mastery is necessary to make such a masterpiece. Funny how impactful this game was to me also.

Couldn’t sleep and started playing Kentucky Route Zero. Had no idea what I was going into. After about an hour, I think it’s some sort of point & click… somehow, I’ve been playing those point & click games so much recently. But unlike Bye Sweet Carole, this one delivers.

Started Bye Sweet Carole. Got it because it looks great. I grew up watching Disney animation movies and I still revisit a few from time to time. I also wanted something a big lighter after Absolum and Bananza back to back. I spent about an hour with it and I’m quite disappointed for now.

In my electro music discovery and education, I’ve now been introduced to this track. And it is gorgeous. Listening to it in repeat, especially at night.

Time to read Strange Pictures (Uketsu). Much better writing in general, or at least more « written ». I like how it is cut too. It is still quite pop-corn entertainment but more like a proper show than a series of « reelshort ». The mysteries are also better crafted. Half into it, I like it better.

三年も、日本語だけで手帳に書き続けているけど、iPhoneのJournalも毎日使っている。 アプリの方が本当に便利だから、まずJournalに書く事が多い。でも、ほぼ日が大好きだし、万年筆を使うのも好きだから、毎日Journalからほぼ日に日記を書き写している。タイピングより、手で書く方が何故かゆっくりだよね。 だから、手で書く時は、もっと簡潔に書くようにしている。今になって、中国人が昔の本を書く時に四字熟語を多用していた理由が分かった。 ある意味、簡潔に書かざるを得なかったんだと思う。

Took me a decade to understand why I like Dragon's Dogma (Dark Arisen) so much: it scratches that itch for traditional western adventure as it appears in D&D/TSR books. I grew up reading Dragonlance (yes, Raistlin FTW) and even now, I can still picture that tavern where all those heroes gather in.

Started reading Strange Houses (Uketsu). What a page turner. Nothing truly innovative but it is efficient, a true pop corn story that uses all the techniques from blogs and shorts to quickly captivate the readers. It serves bits of mysteries one after another to keep me engaged.

In the mood for love is one of my favourite movies. Every scene is romantic. Every word is beautiful. And every silence holds even deeper meanings. Watching it on the first day of 2026 with my better half and her sister made me realise one incredible thing: I never watched it with subtitles before.
