Played tons of Neo Drift Out on my AES. This is probably my favourite rally car racing game. It delivers that rally fantasy perfectly: solo, intense, fast reaction, extremely precise, and requires both adaptability and knowledge. Despite being so simple, and short, the game is full of candies.

Spend the entire flight playing Super Donkey Kong 3: Nazo no Kuremisu Shima on my Analogue Pocket. Somehow, I never finished the game before. I don't even think I've played it more than just a few hours. Now I think about it, I bought the game way after the time of the Super Famicom.

Started playing Super Metroid on my SFC. I can’t believe the game still looks so gorgeous and is still so pleasant to play. But after spending time on Zero Mission and Samus Returns, playing this is really hard from a control standpoint. That wall jump mechanic… come on.

Just watched The Mask of Zorro with my sister and her husband last night. I realised, 10min into the movie, that I’ve actually never watch it before. What a great adventure film. The introduction is fantastic. We immediately get what the movie is all about. The bad guy is so cruel: revenge time.

Always adored the Bay Area. The Silicon Valley gave me a career I couldn’t even dream of. And Marin is the best place for me. I also never liked NYC that much. But I listened to that speech. And that new maire is really cool. He just made me want to go there and give a try.

Just watched Bugonia, the funniest alien movie of the year. The cast is fantastic and delivers the best way possible a simple, yet multilayered story. And if part of the movie is about communication, or the lack of it, those actors do such a great job communicating with the audience perfectly.

By playing Samus Returns, somehow I really wanted to check AM2R. But it isn't "officially" available anymore due to DMCA and stuff. And this is where internet is magic: it is supposed to be decentralised. Found a magnet that has been around for ~3 years and voilà. Preservation done well.

Played Escape from Duckov. Really polished and I like the moment to moment. It is one of those "modern" games that are made for streamers I feel. Because as a pure single-player one, I fail to understand its overall incentive: why should I try to progress? Towards what goal? There is no story.

I wanted to play Metroid 2: Return of Samus. And since I never played its remake, I tried it on my 3DS. I forgot how much I like this console. That rendering is beautiful and the 3D effect works well. I don’t recall using that feature that often back then, it was a gimmick. But now, it’s bluffing.

The Art of Manga at de Young Museum is well done. I wasn’t expecting so many original panels. If I already knew all the authors, I discovered some pieces I’ve never read or even heard before. I regret there wasn’t a space for Akira Toriyama though. Still, I highly recommend everyone to check it out.

Je commence à lire Microcosmes, que j’avais acheté de base pour mon petit neveux, mais que je squatte car ça avait l’air trop bien… et c’est trop bien. Toutes les histoires sont passionnantes et permettent de mieux comprendre l’Histoire.

Read The Old Man and the Sea. I can't believe I never read it before and now, I know why it is so popular. What a great book. I was glued to every word from the first one and I felt every bit of the fisherman's struggle through those pages. Just like the boy, I cried. What a beautiful story.

Also watched Y2K on the plane. I was looking for a « nanar » and I ended up with a « navet ». It’s been a while I couldn’t even finish a film because how bad it is.

Watched Materialists (Celing Song) on the plane and I’m so glad I’ve lived, dated, and found the love of my life before all those dating apps.

Didn't know Flatliners was such a cool movie from the 90s with an excellent cast. It is also very Joel Schumacher in its visuals. What a good surprise. Having good fun watching it during those cold nights in Paris.

I just realised that I stayed in the same hotel as the sumo delegation visiting London a few days ago. When I saw one of them, I genuinely thought it was just a « really big » Chinese tourist…… I mean, yeah.

The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect (Roger Williams) is one of the best short stories I’ve read about artificial intelligence in decades. It is quite disturbing how plausible it feels and how it accurately depicts what could happen if we blindly push ourselves towards such a scenario.

TIL that the French spelling and grammar are complex by design. Part of that complexity is chosen by the academie française as a way to distinguish the cultured ones from the nones. That’s the frenchest thing I’ve read. And I read it in a rainy day, in the lobby of a posh hotel in central London.

One battle after another is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen this year. Spent the entire session laughing. Whether it’s intentional or not, every scene cracked me up. The acting is perfect and every shot is precise, well calibrated. The pacing of the movie is so good I didn’t feel the hours.

Just watched Hereditary (Ari Aster) and now I get why so many friends wanted me to try it. It is an extraordinary movie. I initially thought it would be yet another movie about grief, but it is much more than that. It is an original way of telling stories about trauma with an impeccable execution.

Weapons (Zach Cregger) is a pretty cool movie with a neat concept. There are some interesting scenes and shots overall. The acting is good and everyone does a great job making everything feeling quite disturbing and weird.

I was out of movies to watch on the plane (which is really the universal warning that I'm traveling way too much) so I tried The First Slam Dunk. I got it because I grew up with the manga and I revisit it once a while still. But I also didn't expect much. The anime started quite badly too.

One root for almost every argument I have with friends related to products of arts is the interrogation of its utility. More specifically whether a film, a book, or a game has to be « fun » to be good. There are many definitions for this word and the one I keep is one « lighthearted » pleasure.

The Long Walk is one of my favourite books ever and one of the first Stephen King’s I’ve read as a kid. Over the years, I considered it as the masterpiece that shows why King is such a great author: when you write 400 pages about 100 people walking, and make every page interesting, that’s genius.

M3GAN was stupidly fun. M3GAN 2.0 is stupidly bad.

Watched Death of a Unicorn on the plane. Really liked the concept and on paper, it seemed solid. But the execution is so poor. The acting, the dialogues, the cinematography, the VFX, the actions... so many things wrong. I wish it was made with (much) better care because it could have been so fun.

Been to Tokyo so often it is now my second home but never imagined I’d one day end up meeting my international friends during TGS in a piglet café.

Watched Nobody 2. It’s a sort of home alone with more violence and essentially the same narrative frame as the first one. And for an action movie with such an impressive cast, it ends of offering very little good action scenes and don’t give anything for the actors to truly express their talent.

Marvel’s Wolverine is like Spiderman meets Mortal Kombat.

Couldn't sleep due to severe jet lag (and I don't even know from which part of the world I'm even lagging from at this point, since I've traveled so much recently) so I watched The Innocents (by Eskil Vogt), a movie I was very curious about because the pitch was "kids with superpowers". Like Heroes?

I can’t believe the first time we win in 14 years, I was on a plane. The match was scheduled on Sunday and was rescheduled a day later due to weather condition. Still happy we’ve won. And maybe my wife’s right again: I should stop watching my team because they seem to win every time I miss the game.

I liked Friendship. Been a while I wanted to check this one and I wasn’t let down. Many funny scenes and I like how it is switching between different genres along the way. The acting is good and there are some genuinely touching moments, and lots of cringy ones too.

Black Bag was surprising. One of those movies I only watch on a plane because I dont expect much. And it is quite cool, a good Cluedo movie with a nice cast. Fassbender is perfect in this role as he seems to be only capable of playing those characters anw. But I liked the dynamics between them all.

Watched Opus. Fun movie and John Malkovich seems to have had a lot of fun acting in it. But it felt too easy, déjà vu, and almost like a parody of « A24 ».

Finally started playing Donkey Kong Bananza. Got instantly hooked. I was engaged at the first frames and got into the flow within just a few seconds. It was impossible to get out. I completely forgot I was on the plane (WH-1000XM series have great ANC). I expected a good game and got a masterpiece.

I didn’t know Ferrari is directed by Mann. No wonder I liked it. I randomly watched it on a plane a few months ago, being bored aboard. Even if ANA’s in-flight experience is really good, I usually refrain from watching any « serious » movie on the plane.

I can’t believe a friend disliked Substance. One who actually liked horror movies and has good taste. Well, until now, I guess. Substance is one of my favourite movies recently and an absolute masterpiece that managed to turn the genre a bit more mainstream while still staying true to its roots.

Southland Tales is like a documentary nowadays.

Porto is one of my favourite places in the world. I like its musicality. It’s warm, by its weather and its colours. I like how everything feels human size, tactile, living. I like how walkable it is. I like its shapes. I like its shadow.

Been told Journal is now available on Mac with MacOS26. So happy. Genuinely my favourite journaling app. It is so good that I’m struggling to choose between journaling irl vs app. Decided to keep doing both as I like handwriting so much. But the Journal app is perfect.

12 Monkeys has always been one of my favourite movies growing up. I haven't watched it for a while though. Just watched it again and I only realise now how dark it is. Much darker than what I initially thought. Probably due to the pandemic and also the current state of the world. It is chilling.

Finally started Octopath Traveler 2 and already addicted to the combat system. I like it so much.

Franchement, CDG, c’est vraiment horrible. T’imagines que c’est la première expérience pour les étrangers qui viennent chez nous ? Voilà l’accueil. Le design est un désastre. Et y’a une agressivité effroyable.

Sinners is a fantastic film, one of my all time favourite vampire movies. I went to it without knowing anything, no expectation at all, and my mind was blown.
