Storage space is becoming an issue, especially after the arrival of steam boiler parts and the soon arrival of parts from NL. So we have been creating box sides for the frames bought earlier.

Cleaning and sorting the workshop ahead of bad weather

We employed the laser today properly for the first time. We have replaced its lens as it had a burnt out area on the glass when bought we discovered. Now it's working as intended.

The deconstructed motor ends receiving primer.

We ordered 2 secondhand rigid roller trestles to help restore the armatures. We put them to use straight away and they are ideal to rotate and get to the armature much more easily than a lift and move procedure! The armature was toasty after being kept hot for another week.

We took a look over our Ruston-Paxman 16RK3CT to see all was dry and well! We added some oil inside to any bare steel on the cranks and connecting rods, although it looks amazing!

Removing split pins on bogie 139 and the obligatory dirt removal was needed. It never ends! This work is preparation before a final witnessed brake test and subsequent full brake gear parts removal.

We visited the Netherlands to test the traction motors available to us, together with a supply of parts, some of which are pictured above. These parts were subject to a fundraising appeal some years ago and we are grateful to everyone who contributed.
