The vr animation thing right now doesn’t do a lot to help with looping smoothly, especially when I set it to Nearest for interpolation. I might want to add some things to help get the start and end of a loop to match up.

So far this allows for a series of bones of any length but any vertex is connected to no more than two bones. The specs for meshes allow four or eight bones, but first I have to decide on the math for weights.

So this is not at all how you’re supposed to rig meshes but I think there’s potential to stretch in goofy ways. Like most rigs you’ll do most animation through rotating bones but this relies much more on position of bones. Blue cubes here show the position of bones.

Been trying out different games with my off-brand controller and I’ve encountered four distinct ways they will go wrong. Boring one is when they just don’t acknowledge it is a controller. Most ridiculous is when the thumbstick controls vertical and d-pad controls horizontal.

Presumably this was some error with how I positioned the baking camera, but it’s a kind of interesting glitch. Maybe I should play with deliberately glitched out baking for something.

So I guess my short film screened at two different film festivals earlier today.

Watched a documentary about Laserium and they would refer to the operators as laserists, which is good. The doc feels like laser shows as an art form are kind of in a decline because of more preprogrammed laser shows and less experimentation and individual performance of the laserist.
