Just finished TR-49. Probably my game of the year at this point. I love RE Requiem, but when an investigative/mystery game hits for me, it's *really* hits.

Playing a lot of Minos. If you've ever wanted a video game where you're the Minotaur in his maze, setting up traps to kill the enemies you wander in to hunt you down, here you go. Has a Hades spin-off game feel to it with its art and setting, gameplay sort of a tower-defense + puzzler.

I finished Metroid Other M. It has a lot going for it, surprisingly, but the bad parts are *so* bad, they weigh the whole thing down. Controls, bad implementation of upgrades(that power bomb moment was truly dogshit), story isn't even coherent at times and the characterization of Samus is horrid.

I know there's a fan version of Metroid Other M that makes it better, but still, the original version...whoever thought it was a good idea to thrust you into first person whenever you need to use a missile, hopefully, was fired. The control scheme is the biggest blunder of the game.

I had a good two weeks off, replayed a lot of games I like, but it's about time to get back to the content machine.

BioShock is still great, but this time, that last third of the game felt especially weaker compared to the rest of the game. I haven't played this in a long time, so it was a great revisit overall, but that final boss is just such a weird tonal shift.

Finally got around to trying out Metroid Other M. I'm pretty early on, and yes absolutely, the story and characterization is NUTS...but I'm honestly not feeling like this is *bad*, more so *weird and interesting*. I think the mix of 2D and 3D spaces has legs, it's kind of intriguing.

@tinari.bsky.social Can someone at Housemarque please fix Nex Machina on steam? If your monitor has HDR, it overrides your windows settings and forces a very dim-looking HDR onto you, making the game look terrible. Some fixes the community have pitched aren't working. This is pretty rough.

Looks like the other render is essentially the same, youtube compression just didn't like this game much. It doesn't look horrible or anything, but it's not as crisp as the file on my PC. Oh well. Video will be published by the end of the month. An hour and 20 minutes of Kunitsu-Gami.

Playing Metroid Prime 2 again, first time in a decade at least. One of the only things I strongly remembered was the Boost Ball Guardian boss, and sure enough, he's an absolute beast of a fight. Died twice to him. Fun though, still enjoying the game a lot. Maybe not as much as 1, but still awesome.

As of now, I'm liking Dying Light 2...a lot. I'm curious if my enthusiasm continues for the whole playthrough, and if so, if it can sustain a second go round. I keep finding clear ways where DL2 improved upon DL1 as I go. I think I was too far up my own ass back in 2022, this game is fun.

Finished the Blood West DLC, Dead Man's Promise. Very good, basically like a fourth chapter. Great new enemies, fun new items and weapons(staffs are so cool), decent setting, nice new skills to unlock, and a cool looking final boss. I look forward to whatever the Blood West devs do next.

Finished Acolyte finally. Ugh, not a fan. Nothing was as bad as episode 3, but...fuck, just throw the twins storyline in the trash, so bad. Good lightsaber stuff, and Sol and Stranger were good, but shoot that god damned gopher sniffer guy for the love of god.

Words cannot describe how bored and dissatisfied I was with Acolyte episode 3. This has turned into a pretty terrible Star Wars show, wow.

As much as I'm loving Indiana Jones and the Great Circle...wow, this might be some of the worst enemy AI I've ever seen in a video game. I'd even say Tenchu on the PS1 had more aware guards!

Watched Rogue One for the first time since 2016. Honestly, there's a good movie in there, but unironically, we needed another half hour to get there. Last half is good, first half isn't. Need more time with the characters so we can see them interact and bond.

About half way done with editing the Elite Squadron video. I decided to add a little thing at the end of the galactic conquest section, and change a lot of stuff surrounding it. Naturally that makes editing take longer, but I think it's for the better. Hopefully will have it out by next week.

Finished KOTOR. Genuinely can't believe Bioware shipped the game with that droid respawning section before the final Malak fight. Run around, open canisters for computer spikes. So fun! I feel like the time is a bit off at the end. I still loved the game, but idk. The triumphant ceremony was odd.

This Malak fight was really great. The visuals of the area being so dark red, plus the imposing Malak himself!

Also Jolee Bindo is great. I don't like Juhani at all, but Jolee is a very funny addition to the party, this old sarcastic geezer is a hoot!

KOTOR update: Huh...Korriban was by far my least favorite planet of the bunch. Just not much of interest besides stupid sith being stupid, and the visuals weren't great, just mundane archeology sites. Also RIP Dustil, not sure if I can save him, but...whoops.

Pazaak is rigged against the player. Going first every match is obviously horseshit, but when you bust, the round just ends. No chance to see if the opponent would have gone over 20, too. Oh man, what a miserable card game.
