Haven't been on much as life's been a rollercoaster. Except the coaster is on fire, and the rails are on fire and... well, you get the picture. Hopefully things are calming down for now, but I hope you're all holding up. Lord knows 2025 ain't making anything easy.

Nerd achievement of the week: Grinded a number of hours learning macros in Roll20 and integrating information in there for a system that isn't natively supported. Fuckin' winning, dawg!

On a positive note, I am slowly chipping away at story in FFXI. Treasures of Aht Urhgan is still great, with the occasional "wait until the next Vana'diel Day" gate which is irksome, but not too bad. Wings of the Goddess is still a bit of a slog. I am liking the nation quests more though #FFXI

I avoided the news yesterday but caught up today. I feel that I have to stay informed but need to find the balance of keeping peace. It's as bad as I thought it would be... But fuck me, is it all happening faster.

The TikTok ban, the Musk Twitter takeover, the Facebook moderation policy changes, the Republicans’ rapidly intensifying crackdowns on speech... let these be the proof you needed to move anything you care about online to a space you control. Digital sovereignty is more important than ever.

Mark my words. This is absolutely covering up some handshake deals as well as flexing that they can take things from us, but return it to keep us complacent. Stay informed. Stay radicalized. It is only going to get worse.

Friends, what's one of your favorite memories at a tabletop game? Mine was an Army of Darkness campaign. It's been a long week, recovering from an injury. But I'm bouncing back and ready to run some god damn tabletop, baby.

So much of this country unfortunately doesn't understand the difference between politics and ethics. And FUCK does it show.

I wanted to make a joke that "The pun is mightier than the sword" but a joke like that would be punishment. I like to think my wit is sharp though.

In this tempestuous shit storm that is (much of) the world today, it at least brings me a moment of joy and warmth that I'm finding some of my TikTok friends on here. Just knowing that I won't fall out of contact with them is a small personal victory.

With the overwhelming possibility of the looming TikTok ban, I hope that folks are thinking about the lasting impacts. Without a free market, Meta will just fill feeds with whoever gives them the most money. And this will set a precedent on control of social media and uncontrolled markets.

Character concept: Imagine a guy obsessed with elven culture. Reads their novels, comics, etc., learns elvish, and cosplays as his favorite characters. But through practicing their fighting moves and wearing armor all the time inadvertently starts to bulk up from a common folk to a lvl 1 PC. #DnD

Day 17: Favorite Cinematic While not a CGI "cinematic" scene... the events that Zidane goes through in Terra, as well as the party rallying to support him, gets me everytime. The music, the dialogue. I just love it.

Haven't been active lately due a lot going on, but I hope everyone is doing well.

New year new me--time to play through my backlog! JK I'mma replay Nick Quest for the 40th time.

Remember that a game doesn't need to be a 9 or 10 out of 10, even by your own personal standards, to be an enjoyable experience. I've beaten plenty 7/10 games that were still an absolute blast and I have no regrets about playing them.
