The Scottish Greens have pledged free bus travel for everyone in Scotland as they launched their election campaign in Edinburgh

As fossil fuel prices soar, it’s time for us to seize the huge opportunities we have on our doorstep. Green energy is the cleanest and cheapest energy available. With the right investment we can lower bills, cut emissions, and create thousands of long-term, well paid jobs.

One ticket should get you from A to B, no matter how many buses or trains that takes. The @scottishgreens.org will introduce ScotCard, a tap-on, tap-off smart card system across all modes of public transport. Integrated ticketing is normal across Europe. Now it's Scotland's turn.

Taxing air travel should be done in a way that recognises both the environmental damage caused by wealthy frequent flyers and the pressures facing ordinary households. Our plans would allow the wealthy to pay their fair share towards dealing with climate breakdown.
