Great news for our island communities 💚 I’ve just come from the chamber where the Cabinet Secretary for Transport confirmed the end of seasonal peak fares for Shetland and Orkney islanders on NorthLink Ferries.

❌ We need to stop relying on volatile supplies of gas and oil. For our security and stability, the EU must have its own supply of energy and renewables are the solution. We can produce it ourselves, we don’t need to rely on external forces. 💚 Renewable energy is the future.

I am calling on the Scottish Government to make sure that travel into our region and from our region is better quality in terms of the rolling stock, the carriages that we sit in, and the systems so that trains can run on time. We need a much better investment in rail in the Highlands and Islands.

4 years ago we delivered free bus travel for under 22s. Now we want to expand it to everyone under 30 - improving mobility, lowering congestion and pollution, and leaving more money in people's pockets. Reducing the cost of public transport is a win-win for people and planet.
