The replacement of employees with AI has an underappreciated impact on organizations. Oversight. People push back. They say no. They whistleblow and leak. It is the people inside organizations who push back against the worst inclinations of the capitalist drive. Not all, but some. AI never will.

The direction of AI toward world models will require eternal growth, as the fidelity of the "world" being "modeled" will demand ever finer detail. If compute were infinite, we certainly could eventually recreate our whole world and us in it. Would we tell the digital "us" they aren't "real?"

Every day of gains the headline on CNBC is a derivative of: "X is happening in the markets as investors bet on Y." The dissonance is deafening. If people are "betting" then they aren't "investors." They are "gamblers."

Who is the "our" in #OurPredicament? Is it just people? Certainly not. Understanding the trajectory of the planet, the impact we've had and why requires seeing that humans are just one part of an interdependent, connected nature. "Our" includes all beings on this planet. We are all invested.

I don't recall where I first came across this idea but the gist is that amongst those who get #OurPredicament invariably there was a childhood experience of a connection with nature and witnessing it being spoiled by modernity.
