Battling ICE goons in our hometowns is a natural response to oppression but it plays into their hand. It is what they want. What they don't want is the capital invaded by millions of Americans. Learn from history. Surround the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court. Make them afraid.

The second amendment, along with the rest of the constitution, was written for expressly this exact moment in our nation’s history. There has never been a more clear threat of tyrannical government. The people are justified in armed self defense against anyone who would deny their rights.

All technology suffers from the flaws inherent in its design. Could AI be sewing the seeds of its own undoing? If we can no longer trust anything we see or hear via technology, will we reject it altogether?

The soul is so inscrutable. Can't feel it, can't know where it comes from or where it goes. Can't measure it in others. To me, the soul is the source of life. Every cell, every plant, every being must have a soul if any of us does.

@npr.org I stopped donating to NPR precisely because of the kind of interview Scott Detrow conducted with Hakeem Jeffries. Scott repeated Republican lies, talking point after talking point and then had the gall to ask why Democrats are losing the messaging battle.

The entire point behind the 2nd amendment was to ensure the government could never monopolize force to the point that it could subjugate the people. It is time the people of this country stand their ground.

Buddhism's first principle is that suffering is intrinsic to life. That makes no sense to me. If that was true for people then it would also be true for all other beings., and it clearly is not. So why do we suffer? What's different about us? Well, for starters. We live inside supremacizations.

I think a lot about words and how they shape our ability to understand the world. @natehagens.bsky.social newest pod with Luke Kemp brought up the word "civilization" and how it's really a misnomer. And that got me thinking. What word could we create to replace "civilization"?

Our ability to think is constrained by the vocabulary we have access to for telling ourselves stories about the world. If you want change, you must first change the way you think. Case in point:

Someone should write a book about how our social drive for status and our search for strongmen during crisis has contributed to a society where everyone is subconsciously compelled to seek followers. We are being driven to the stone so society can figure out who will pull the sword and save us.

I read a lot of books on history, ecology etc, typical Doomer stuff. What never stops astounding me is what the world was like before it was "civilized." The shifting baseline syndrome is staggering.

I sometimes fantasize that an appeal to shared humanity and public shaming would be powerful enough to discourage folks from lining their pockets via service to supremacy. Then the 12,000 year history of civilization slaps me in the face and calls me "fool".

IMHO Americans agreeing on the Epstein files is much less about empathy for the victims or a demand for justice than it is a simple bloodlust for elite suffering. That's the one thing most Americans agree on. Eat the rich.

So so so fitting for Comey, who got Trump into office originally, is his first target.
