Dear trans family, We are not defined by the actions of an individual. You are not at fault, and you are not the problem. You are loved. Stay safe.

I meant to post this yesterday, but the news of Andrea Gibson's passing was still raw. I let the poem linger a bit beneath gray skies. I am thinking of Andrea—their work, their reverent irreverence, their passion. This poem is dedicated to them and to everyone seeking a bit of hope.

Andrea Gibson (they/them), award-winning poet, activist, and Colorado’s Poet Laureate, died on July 14, 2025, at the age of 49. They passed peacefully at home.

Today is International Nonbinary People's Day. As a genderfluid femme, i fall under the nonbinary umbrella. So, just a friendly reminder that nonbinary people are not limited to just androgyny. We come in as much variety as women and men do.
