Another step on our quest to rid the world of all the annoying little aspects of achievement systems! A step that has taken painfully longer than expected: parts of this feature appeared on live PlayTracker in March 2023 on the Jackbox games in my library. Next up: filtering non-core achievements!

Cannot overstate how great @secondwindgroup.com has been for us at PlayTracker. We sponsored over a dozen creators/channels in Nov/Dec, and it was our best performing campaign by a decent margin. Lots of old users interacted with the guild too, since the profile decorations they made are top tier!

Excited about our new "Mastered" game completion state, which is attainable by completing all the content available in a single play-through of a game, without having to look up a guide before playing. Some devs follow this rule, but it's good to have it as a consistently tracked aspirational goal.

My weekend was devoured by Seance of Blake Manor. Initially had some friction with the time mechanic and had to fight the urge to inspect every stack of towels, but after a while it really clicked. "One more turn" vibe: can't stop playing because that person just came back and I have questions...

When designing features we try to tap into social dynamics that we think are fun and memorable. One such example is pestering your friends to play the games you recommended them. Thus: the rewards modifier for Backlog Dungeon is doubled if one of your friends has the game in their Hall of Fame!

As the dust settles, an interesting Silksong playtime stat appears: users who played Hollow Knight, but did not finish it, played Silksong less than even complete newcomers. 16% even went back to Hollow Knight!

When a PlayTracker sales estimate was embarrassingly wrong, an odd geographical distribution was usually behind the scenes. It's an inherent shortcoming of our user sampling method. Many just play and do not engage with social stuff. We're trying to fix this with today's update.

People will study what went right with Marvel Rivals for years. We haven't seen something like this since Helldivers 2. It held incredibly well over its launch month - a time when games typically decline. Now it beats its all-time concurrent player record and hits 500K. Can it keep up the momentum?

The Balatro sweep was real among PlayTracker users: Balatro reached more new players across all platforms in December than any month before. Previous players returned as well, with the game breaking its concurrent player record on Steam and achieving peak achievement activity on console.

Back in 2021, CDPR posted the Cyberpunk 2077 platform breakdown showing PC at 56%, yet for the expansion PC is at 68%. Even more interesting is that according to our (PlayTracker) data, consoles have been closing the gap since then, so the expansion over performed by a crazy amount on PC.
