Afternoon at Oglet chasing butterflies 😂 along the cliffs 3 clouded yellow the highlights , plenty of painted lady,red admiral,peacock ,meadow brown ,large whites Quiet for birds on the Mersey over the high tide with just a few black headed gulls .

Morning #patchbirding around the woodlands with @wordsanddeeds.bsky.social Chiffchaff and blackcaps still singing away. coal tits , woodpeckers ,nuthatch , blackbirds ,robins , buzzard . Highlight tho was this female sparrow hawk

The meadows around Speke hall & coastal reserve are alive with hundreds of ‘singing ‘ Roesel's bush-cricket Impressive looking things !if you like that sort of thing 😂) So many butterflies meadow brown,common blue,gatekeeper,comma,small &large skipper,red admiral,small copper

Late Morning/afternoon #patchbirding at Oglet Highlights … 2 yellow wagtail, 2 grey partridge,loads of swift and swallows , lots of fledgling house sparrows and 2 clouded yellow butterfly

It’s been lovely watching a jay family visiting my garden last few days .. 2 adult and 2 young , they’re so entertaining!

Wow a 1st for me , just had a scarlet tiger moth in my garden 🤩🙌🏻

I was made up to see 2 banded demoiselle 🥳a new species for me on my patch at the ponds on the estuary business park today There were emperor,Broad-bodied , black-tailed skimmer dragonflies and azure and blue-tailed damselflies

Great -tailed grackle on the meadow at Speke hall just now , he’s alarm calling as there is a fox below the tree ( and I don’t mean me 😂)

A young fox came out of the bushes with this attached and it made me smile and laugh as it tried to get it off 😂🦊

So many butterflies on the meadows and reserve today, the toadlets have emerged from the pond and were all over the paths Lots of meadow brown,ringlets,small skippers (pictured) Large skippers,painted lady,common blue , full of wild flowers and this beautiful pyramidal orchid

Evening #patchbirding Highlights ..Lots of swallows and house martins over the meadows , Barney was on the post for a while listening and looking for voles which paid off, 2 Cetti’s young seen again who were busy catching bugs Quiet on shore just the shelducks and ducklings

A little bit of cuteness on this afternoons #patchbirding with 12 little humbugs 🥰 Only other waders were 9 curlew and 2 oystercatcher.

Evening #patchbirding Highlights …Good to see a lesser whitethroat with at least 2 young , The great-tailed grackle was in his copse for a while , barn owl out hunting , the lovely pale buzzard was out and all 6 of the raven family

Afternoon #patchbirding at Oglet to see the yellow wagtails Lots of swallows and swift , linnets, house sparrows, Reed buntings and whitethroat

This made me laugh , a magpie kept pecking at foxys tail and then his mate joined in , it went on for a good ten minutes before foxy got fed up and left , they chased after him for a bit to make sure he’d gone 😂

A wonderful close encounter with the barn owl on tonights #patchbirding as it took a short rest from hunting . It was so close , I held my breath and froze ! Here’s a few pics as the video clip won’t load on here for some reason

After not seeing him for 12 days and thinking he’d gone the #patchbirding Great - tailed grackle was on the meadow at Speke hall earlier 🙌🏻 Lots of swift,swallows and house martins over the meadows and the buzzard and kestrel were out hunting .

My 1st ringlet butterfly of the year today on the meadow at Speke hall. Lots of meadow brown,common blue burnet companion ,mother shipton and six spot burnet moths

I heard birds calling from the long grass and waited a bit , and a family of pheasant chicks came running out to find mum 🥰

I do love foxes 2 dog and a vixen this evening ❤️

A wader-tastic #patchbirding 🤩 c1500 mixed flock of waders on Garston shore , 1 curlew sandpiper , I reckon at least 500 sanderling and the rest Dunlin and ringed plover and one curlew . 8 greylag geese flew down river .

Evening #patchbirding Better views of the Waders as a little closer in off the slip way Dunlin , ringed plover,sanderling Barn owl was out hunting , willow warbler singing away and posed nicely for me , 2 stonechat , Cetti’s, Reed warblers, sedge, whitethroats all very active
