Dunno if I can finish my Castlevania marathon before the new one comes out in October, but it does feel satisfying knowing that I’m between a third and halfway through as of finishing both Reinhardt and Carrie’s stories in Castlevania 64.

Finished Reinhardt’s story in Castlevania 64 last night! I still need to do a second playthrough as Carrie for a fair and final assessment, but— I can’t believe I let gaming YouTubers gaslight me into thinking this was a “bad” game for so many years.

I swear to god, this Castlevania marathon is making me so mad that I quit doing YouTube videos. All of these Thoughts™ and Opinions™ about my comfort series that I could be channeling into a long-ass analysis/essay, but nobody would give two shits about because I've been gone for nearly three years

So I’ve reached the point in my Castlevania marathon where I get to tackle the N64 games, which I’ve always been morbidly curious about. A few bosses in, and it’s not *bad* bad, but it’s definitely awkward in a way that only an early 3D action game can be.

Are my issues with art productivity really skill-related, or are they more confidence issues? Because after reaching out to people whose works I admire, it’s sounding more (but not exclusively) like the latter. Though I still don’t know how to address the problem.

Been getting to cook for myself a lot more this year, so lemme tell you something I figured out. Ham and Swiss, on a grill pan. Classic. Mayo instead of butter. Golden brown, wonderful crunch. Dijon mustard on one slice of bread and apple butter on the other. Tastes like a Thanksgiving glazed ham.

The final boss theme for Akumajō Dracula on the Sharp X68000 sounds like Simon Belmont and Dracula are about to have the sickest game of hoops to decide the fate of humanity. “Accept your fate, Belmont! You will NEVER be ballin’!”

Amended the rules to my ongoing Castlevania marathon to allow remakes, and I’m glad I did, because I’m very surprised at the Sharp X68000 version of Akumajō Dracula. It’s similar to Super Castlevania IV, in being a reimagining of the original with new set pieces and a 16-bit coat of paint.

It's been about five months since I started trying to learn how to use an art tablet instead of pen and paper, so I thought I'd test my progress by redrawing an OC piece I did with traditional media last year. Hopefully there's signs of improvement.

I haven’t even put two hours into Portrait of Ruin yet, and I already have a silly/dumb idea of drawing Jonathan and Charlotte going into one of the paintings from Mario 64. Probably not the first person to think of that joke, but I ought to put a pin in it anyway, for later.

Finished Order of Ecclesia today―that's another entry done in my Castlevania marathon! Admittedly started a bit rough because I was still used to the GBA ones, but once I got the hang of it, it was a joy to go through. Definitely on the harder side, but picking up on boss patterns wasn't *too* bad.

Had a vivid nightmare for the first time in a year (or at least one I remembered to write down). It involved seeing a tornado from a highway, only for it to be a cluster of five tornadoes that assembled themselves into a human shape—like a person sprinting—to catch up with the car I was in.

I made the mistake of trying the Tomodachi Life demo last night, and now I have to deal with the cliffhanger of having an island with myself, Shirao Eri, and Moon Child chumming it up, knowing that it’ll probably be a couple months before I can get the full game. 😅
