My latest Super Mario Bros. Wonder level revolves around a custom "mirage" gimmick, where fake purple platforms temporarily disappear to reveal the location of the real blue platforms.

I am obviously very excited for Wonder's Switch 2 DLC, but I'm also very thrown off by the new talking flower voice actor. I know this was also the case in Mario Party Jamboree TV, but assuming the old voicelines won't be replaced, having the two voices side by side will be odd.

My first custom Mario Wonder "Search Party" level pushes the game's playable background area feature to its limit by stacking several layers on top of each other.

Me and some friends spent over a week remaking the entirety of Super Mario Bros. 1-1 on Wplace. It's made up of over 250k pixels, so it would've taken way longer to make if not for all the kind strangers who helped out.

Really interesting how Donkey Kong Bananza not only allows you to skip the Freezer Layer entirely, but if you progress the story and then backtrack to the world at a later point, the game accounts for this by removing its boss fights and just handing you the bananas.

The wonder effect of my latest custom Super Mario Bros. Wonder level uses multiple "Rift Mario" clones at the same time, which the original game fully supports, but never took advantage of for some reason.

If you've been wondering why it feels like most of the sections of Mario Kart World's Rainbow Road appear out of nowhere, that's because they do.

Hilariously, one of the groups of obstacles Mario Kart World's Kamek item can spawn in front of the drivers is a bunch of Bob-ombs.

I'm so glad Mario Kart World seems to feature plenty of relatively difficult P Switch missions. Also, notice how boost panels flip depending on which direction you approach them from.

My first custom Super Mario Bros. Wonder Badge Challenge level uses the Safety Bounce badge, which allows the player to bounce on lava once per jump.

This is getting confusing

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the state of on/off blocks carries through to playable background areas, so I made use of that in my latest custom level.

In my latest Super Mario Bros. Wonder level, by making a custom version of the sloped lava actor, I managed to hook up its rotation to a pulley, which led to the creation of this fun bonus room.

Another one of these: Wonder features this unused interaction where shells can bounce on Sugarstars, so I used that for a bonus room and also (totally intentionally) to do a shell-jump.

One of my favourite aspects of designing custom Super Mario Bros. Wonder levels is designing puzzle bonus rooms that take advantage of obscure mechanics and interactions.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Bulrush stampede wonder effect is quite flexible, which my latest custom level takes advantage of to make this unique section.

Between these Wonder logos and some of the beta NSMB2 logos, it's interesting how Nintendo has repeatedly considered going for a more cartoon-y look for their modern 2D Mario logos, before deciding to use the arguably less interesting 3D rendered look.

Apart from the nifty logos, the only design changes I can spot are the colour schemes of the elephant suit, pipe, dragon and wubba.

I've been calling it Mario Kart 9, I've seen others call it 10, X or even 11, but I really hope the game has a unique title instead of just a number.

I just realised, despite them showing like 20 racers at the same time, there's not a Koopaling in sight.

It's the tiniest thing, but I'm really happy Mario Kart 9(?) is continuing some of 8's in-universe brands like Mario Motors, 1-Up Fuel and Mario Kart TV, alongside new ones like Luigi Tires. This kind of subtle continuity between Mario games is pretty rare.

I like how unique the theming of "Mario Bros. Circuit" is considering this might be MK9's version of a beginner track. There's still some subtle Mushroom Kingdom theming though, those mountains are mushroom-shaped.

I'll be interested to see how MK9 handles anti gravity. Will it be a core part of the series going forward, like how glider and underwater sections were integrated into 8? This turn in the background looks like it could be anti-grav, though I don't see any blue.

Judging from the starting line, Mario Kart 9(???) seems to have 24 players per race, which is insane.

Not only does Donkey Kong have his new movie design in Mario Kart 9(???), Mario's slightly more cartoon-y Wonder proportions also seem to be the default now.

I was recently involved in the creation of another Super Mario Bros. Wonder level pack! It features 8 levels that were made for the "Zigzag Jam" level design contest held in the Wonderland Discord server, for which I was a judge.
