Took advantage of the sunshine yesterday to explore all 1.3 miles of Ulverston canal from Canal Head to Canal Foot on the coast. Very tranquil, attractive and full of fascinating heritage including a "rolling" bridge! Also saw coots, dragonflies, buzzards and a raven.

I've been forgetting to mention that two of my pictures are on display (and *cough* for sale) in the Windermere Room at the Ladyholme Centre in Windermere. There are also artworks by other members of my monthly pastels group and I'm genuinely blown away to have my art featured in such good company.

Unexpected trip - set off for GB Antiques in Lancaster only to find it shut in Feb! Diverted to nearby Williamson Park/Ashton Memorial instead, never been before but had lots of fun exploring the park, ravines, lake, the vast memorial itself and the butterfly house with actual tropical butterflies!

Decorating. And I officially hate woodchip wallpaper!! Been over some bits 4 or 5 times and there's still white flecks showing through. Whoever invented it should be forced to repaint it continuously, forever!!

Structural engineer has been out to check our Giant Crack (in the wall, obvs) and thinks we'll need to tie it in but has recommended stripping all the plaster off the wall to make sure it's nothing worse. Aaagh. I used to have a study... 😰

Haven't done much art lately... We'd noticed some damp in my study and started stripping back layers of wallpaper and lining paper, and found this absolute monster crack running floor to ceiling. Structural engineer coming on Tuesday so I've had to clear the room and have nowhere to draw/paint... 😮😢

Busy week - 2 concerts in 2 days! First was baroque music in the awe-inspiring surroundings of Cartmel Priory (below), the second was Budapest Cafe Orchestra in Ambleside church. Both great, second one definitely more fun (with whirling standard lamps, no less!).

I'm running around the house shrieking because this picture sold at the Windermere Art Society exhibition yesterday! Called 'Ladies Who Munch', it's a charcoal drawing of two Herdwick sheep I photographed in a field near Keswick in the Lake District a few years ago. My first "proper" art sale!

I ordered some business cards to have ready to hand out/leave lying round at the Windermere Art Society exhibition next month. They’ve just arrived – and I’m so pleased with them. They've worked really well and should be, er, eye-catching enough to make people take a second look!

Last night was the Grand (Re)Opening of the Royalty Cinema in Bowness as a cinema, music and community venue, and we were there. Great fun, with local (excellent) band The Native Cult, a Beatles tribute band - and of course the Wurlitzer organ! Lovely to see the place buzzing again.

Lovely trip to Cartmel yesterday. I used to want to live here, before the reality of one food shop and hardly any buses occurred to me. ;) It's more touristy now thanks to the races and two Michelin-starred restaurants, but it still has a peaceful feel & lots of lovely old buildings.
