listening to isimo on repeat to feel something. makes me want to write ted and rebecca angst with a happy ending alas i have too much real life work to do so putting a pin in it to come back later.

if he could, henry would spend his entire tuesday at the library. he sometimes listens to reason (bribes) and lets ted take him home. as she walks into the house, she finds her two favourite boys in a new blanket fort, reading while dinner bakes in the oven. henry grins and wiggles as ted winks.

not that long ago, she used to roll her eyes with disdain at those in matching clothing strolling about the city or in the christmas cards that went into the bin after opening them. now, though, she rolls her eyes with a fond gleam as he kisses her cheek, claiming it’ll be the best christmas yet.

it had been too quiet as she took advantage of ted on ‘homework help time’ to stretch out on the couch with her new book. she hears his footsteps and looks up as he rounds the couch. ‘we’re a pair-o-cuties’ he tries with a grin forming. she chuckles. she’ll let him know those are budgies later.

it’s all rebecca welton’s fault.

the storefront was some sort of revolving pop-up. the others hadn’t drawn his eye. this time, the big smiling face on the little jumper stopped him. he looked down at claire, her tiny grin visible as he held her on his hip as they walked to the pub for some daddy-daughter time. ‘it’s perfect.’

her first thanksgiving was a start of new traditions. henry delighted in introducing her to the various sides he’s enjoyed during past thanksgivings. as much as he adored her help in the kitchen, his favourite moment is the post-dinner pre-dessert walk. she hums, thankful for him as he echoes her.

he had surprised her after a little schedule switch-a-roo thanks to fall weather in the tropics and a delayed game. so, he flew in to attend the spurs match. ‘aww, man. why are y’all so crazy about peas?’ he pouts and she takes his container of chips and pie to start their tradition all over again.

the six week break always started in the midwest to snap up henry for their family vacation. the one thing henry always made sure they’d do is spend one day at the local wildlife conservatory in KC. it was a favorite place for him and he liked hearing his sister’s giggle when she fed the animals.

ted eagerly tracks her flight. he parks in the short term lot and waits outside the no re-entry doors, a small bouquet in hand. she doesn’t mind when he slips his hand over hers to steal her wheelie luggage as he kisses her. after all, it means she gets to hold his free hand as they walk to the car.

ted claims it’s their first gala even though they’ve been to five of these now. when she raises her brow to question him, he holds up his hand and wiggles his ring finger and she playfully rolls her eyes. on the carpet, she takes his arm, pointedly curling her left hand around him before grinning.
