The number of permit-to-carry applications increased nearly 75% across the state, from 4,734 in January 2025, to 8,240 in January 2026.

U.S.-made guns fuel violence across the globe. But the U.S.’s innovation in community-based and public health-focused violence prevention hasn’t spread the same way. A coalition launched a campaign to change that, asking the World Health Organization to address gun violence.
