I enjoy jangle pop, old movies, comic books and basketball. Fire no guns, shed no tears.
1 Agonizingly dull and by-the numbers 2 Walked so Threads could run. 3 Triangle of Badness 4 Slow start, and Hepburn is a little miscast, but ultimately heartbreaking and gorgeous

5 = loved it & resonates with me personally 4.5 = loved it 4 = great, recommended 3.5 = good; recommended if you're into the genre 3 = average/not a total waste of time. Some good stuff 2.5 = wish I hadn't bothered 2 and below = bad and objectionable for me for various reasons

1 Wilkinson as good in this as everyone says 2 Top drawer noir that tap-dances all around the Hays Code 3 But here's what the Hays Code took from us: great, mature stories about women's inner lives 4 Disappointing for me considering its rep

Man on the bus this morning blasting Willie Nelson's "Always on my Mind" without headphones. He is presumably Going Through It. Wanted to shout, "She ain't worth it, King! Now buy some headphones!" but restrained myself.

IDEA: a browser plugin for recipe sites that changes all variations of "hubby/hubs/wifey" to a clown icon. It is second only to "impactful" for my personal literary equivalent to nails on a chalkboard.

I was put off Marty Supreme for ages because of its length, its awful poster and the presence of a certain Canadian Dragon. Turns out it was a lot of fun! I never wanted it to end.

To Minutter For Sent is 2 Minutes Late in English and part of Criterion's excellent Nordic Noir series. Bugonia was a huge disappointment considering the talent involved. Lanthimos is officially in his huffing his own farts era.

Confused with this result, because it felt like every other movie I watched this year had Trevor Howard in it. Can't argue with stats, though? 🤷♀️ (Congrats to her long career. The films I watched were from '33, '40 and '64 and Wikipedia says her first film credit was 1914!!)

we're all drawn towards the void, but each day we continue to exist & try to do good for our friends & culture is worth celebrating. so let's raise a toast to US as well as those who are gone, vowing to continue our fight to bend the arc of society in the direction of ecstasy rather than despair.

There Is No Mary Problem in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
George’s vision of his wife without him is essential to the film, but critics continue to miss its true—and profound—meaning.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was the hit of the week. "Diamonds" rightfully is the iconic highlight, but "Ain't There Anyone Here For Love" (Jane with the Olympians in the gym!) was camptastic. I guess that's what Mae West was aiming for in Sextette. 😂

I'm sure there is some great music in here, but these are some seriously terrible band names. You could do new Who's On First routine with them: Fib. Fine. Leggs. Humor. Um, Jennifer?
