I post a lot of useless stats and the occasional useful one, usually about the Cincinnati Reds.
Worst win percentage in the postseason since 1996: Reds (.167) Twins (.231) Pirates (.375) Not only have the Reds failed to advance in the postseason since 1995, but they've only made the playoffs five times since then — and each appearance has been miserable.

The Reds have lost their 7th straight postseason game, tied for the second-longest active streak in MLB. Only the Orioles currently have a longer losing streak (10).

Before that last inning, Todd Frazier had the only bases-loaded walk in Reds postseason history. Sal Stewart and Elly De La Cruz join the prestigious club.

The Reds just standing there while the Dodgers walk their way out of an eight-run lead would be an amusing microcosm for how the Reds got here in the first place

This is now the most runs the Reds have scored in a playoff game since their 9-0 win against the Giants in game two of the 2012 NLDS.

Reds postseason chances entering the final series of the season: FanGraphs: 19.5% Baseball Reference: 26.6% Implied betting odds (FD): 23.8% Feels kinda fitting that they need to overcome a Milwaukee team they've been dominated by for years to get in the playoffs.

Matt McLain is last in MLB in win probability added (-3.5), per Baseball Reference. (Santiago Espinal is 2nd from last at -2.9.) McLain has the lowest WPA by a Reds hitter since Virgil Stallcup in 1950. Only 4 Reds in the modern era (since 1901) have a worse WPA in a season.

Here's how incorrect ball/strike calls have balanced out for the Reds over the full season. There are probably better ways to measure the effects (e.g., run value gained/lost), but it certainly seems the ABS challenge system could benefit pitchers more than hitters.

The Reds are currently one of three teams (Pirates, Orioles) without a 20 HR hitter. If that holds for the next two weeks, it would be the first time the Reds haven't had a player with 20+ HR in a full season since 1992.

Sal Stewart's 111.7-mph single in the 8th inning was the Reds' hardest-hit ball since August 5 (Noelvi Marte, 112.8). It was the Reds' hardest-hit ball of the season by a player not named Elly De La Cruz, Noelvi Marte, or — of course — Connor Joe.

Tonight is the first time the Reds have lost a game in which they had 7+ extra-base hits since Sept. 23, 2023. They'd won their previous 11. It's only the 3rd time this season the Reds have had that many XBH in a game. Guardians and Twins are now the only teams with fewer (2).

Elly De La Cruz has a .093 isolated power (SLG minus BA) since June 24, when his HR drought began. That's the 13th-lowest ISO among qualified hitters in that time. TJ Friedl is 2nd-lowest (.060). Matt McLain is 3rd-lowest (.066). Unsurprisingly, the Reds are dead last in ISO in that span (.121).
