OK internet ... I did some stuff that I'm hoping you'll like. Here's some advanced stat looks at the 3 local FBS teams in the state going into their game Saturday. Please let me know what you think, and if they're helpful at all. I plan to post these weekly if you like them.

Kyle Whittingham announces that Hunter Andrews is out with a season-ending injury. The injury came during the Texas Tech game. He was rolled up.

Asked about his health, Devon Dampier said it’s “great.” “I think a lot of our players are feeling great, too. We’ll attack this week real good.”

Kyle Whittingham said Monday that starting QB Devon Dampier was impacted by an injury ahead of the Texas Tech game. Utah doesn't believe it's cause for concern, but it did limit what he was able to do Saturday. www.ksl.com/article/5137...

Whittingham on Devon Dampier: "We believe in him completely. We're not down on our quarterback." Adds that they can't worry about one performance, knowing that he's capable of being so much better.

Whittingham said he would like to have "an elite back" separate eventually. Said there hasn't been enough separation yet. Said each RB has different skillsets that help them individually.

Whittingham said Dampier's injury could be a long-term things, but they don't know. Said he's in a "better place" this week than he was last week.

Whittingham said Utah's missed tackles was "more than double" what they hope to have each week. It was way too much. Said he was really impressed with the Tech backup QB, who "really did some damage on us." Adds that he wished Behren Morton "never went out."

Whittingham said some of Texas Tech's coverage "negated" some of Utah's downfield throws, but Dampier missed Merriweather and the Bennee pass that got called back hurt things. Said the downfield passing is the biggest question on the offense.

Whittingham said he's "very confident" this team won't let what happened last year happen this year. "We just had an off day offensively."

Whittingham on Devon Dampier's health going into Texas Tech: "He was doing the best he could" but he wasn't able to practice Tuesday and Wednesday, and a little bit on Thursday."

Whittingham said the team will leave on Thursday with this being an East coast game.

Whittingham said he was "very proud of our defense for 3.5 quarters. We just couldn't finish the way we wanted to." Again stresses "battling" the field position situation.

Utah a 12-point favorite over West Virginia on the road

Utah drops out of the AP Top 25 after being ranked No. 16 last week. Not too surprising considering they haven't proved much yet.

Utah thought it didn't need all 31 of Baskin-Robbins' flavors, vanilla was the ice cream flavor de jour. But like the aforementioned ice cream store, a more exciting option was needed Saturday. www.ksl.com/article/5137...

Whittingham said he was planning on challenging the NaQuari Rogers first down run, but as he was going up to the ref, he told Whittingham that they already confirmed it up top.

Whittingham said "we've got to find a way to get a threat" in the receiving game. Said they need guys to get open.

Whittingham said it was the correct call by the ref on the ineligible receiver penalty. Their guy was 8 yards down the field and it was a mistake in not knowing what the play was.

Whittingham called turnovers the biggest problem, and the second one was losing the line of scrimmage.

Whittingham said there's trust in Devon Dampier to execute in the passing game. "He's a guy that will come back. He'll be ready for next week."

Whittingham said "it can't happen" when talking about the defense giving up at the end of the game.

Whittingham: "I never would have believed if you said we'd lose the line of scrimmage."

Kyle Whittingham said credit to Texas Tech, "they've really assembled themselves a great roster." Said Utah didn't do anything to help its own cause today. "Essentially didn't get into a rhythm on offense all morning."

FINAL: Utah 10 | Texas Tech 34 No. 17 Texas Tech simply outplayed No. 16 Utah in every facet of the game. For a team looking to shake off last year's offensive problems, today was not the answer.
