Caught the sun a bit whilst to and fro today. I put a cucumber/aloe face mask in the fridge earlier and just relaxing with it on my face to rehydrate/soothe/cool it. Decided against a selfie however 😂😂 - very scary sight indeed 😱🤣

That wonderful feeling of getting in from work, work clothes off, cool shower, loose cotton kaftan on, long cold drink with ice and big freestanding fan on full blast - absolute bliss 🥰🙌😁

For all those who have to be up, on and out doing this thing called life and trying to give your best during this heatwave whilst dealing with the effects of heat related sleep deprivation - I feel you. 🫂🤗 We’ve got this 🙌 Stay hydrated, rest when poss. Enjoy the fine weather when/where you can x

1/2 Collected nettle seeds today ( the female ones- they hang down from the stems) Will be dried for a week ( the sting will be gone by then too) before stripping/sieving and storing. Nature’s power nuggets. Full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Gorgeous evening for relaxing in the garden.. warm with a gentle breeze, lots of different birds coming for a drink/bath, “screamers” in the sky (Swifts) and the scent of honeysuckle, stocks and sweet peas. Lovely ♥️ #peace

1/2 Decided to indulge myself in a little summer solstice eve/weekend teatime party..one pan meal cooked on my firepit ( chicken, chorizo, shitake mushrooms, vine tomatoes, potatoes and thyme/oregano from my garden). A glass of red to accompany 🍷 Absolutely delicious….

Good to see many brambles in stages of flowering/ fruiting, apple trees laden with growing fruit and hazelnuts ripening. It’ll not be long before I can go out with my large foraging/scrumping basket. 🧺🍎🍏🌰😁

Fun bodhran lesson at Folklincs this morning ( thanks as always to my tutor Ciarán) Couldn’t make the folk song session today as had to be elsewhere.

That’s a wrap on June folk gigs.. all slows down a bit now as it’s festival season. It has been a blast these last 6 months ♥️ Have just the odd thing in place for July/Aug. Sept-Dec is looking wonderfully bonkers with all the autumn/winter tours - lots of tickets in hand. 🥰🎶🥁🎻🎺🪈🪗🪕

1/2 Loved Stornoway this evening ( light iffy for pics so only took a few) Managed to have a quick pre gig chat with band member Oli who confirmed they would be performing “Marco Polo” - a song I love. Great to hear it live ♥️ The lead singer/songwriter Brian is an ornithologist /warden for the WWT….

Not sorry it is Friday. Feeling rather battered after a week of busyness, lack of sleep and illness ( damn sinusitis ). Grateful for the good times/ kind people which has really helped me to stay buoyant 🙏 Some nice things still to enjoy and a lazy Sunday scheduled which is very much required 🥰

Oh how I hate the sound of hedge trimmers at this time of year. Council workers in the park butchering the hedges. I do hope a breeding bird survey was carried out beforehand but I fear not. Will never understand the incessant need to keep our wild spaces tidy/pristine…It grieves me greatly.

What a difference half an hour makes…my days generally start at silly o’clock but today I have to go to work even earlier as need to leave early for an appointment. Hardly any traffic and people.. lovely and peaceful ha 😁

We are just back from one of the best gigs..didn’t want it to end..amazing songs, music, lots of joining in, humour, stories and history.. just wonderful from start to finish. Packed house too. CD bought and a chat with Jez, Billy and Bob in the interval. What a lovely, talented bunch they are ♥️

Home sweet home after a totally wonderful solo weekend away. Back in time to listen to Tim Walker’s Folk - I may not listen to it all tonight ( can catch up tomorrow evening) as very tired and unfortunately back to work early tomorrow.

Wonderful few hours in Whitby - love the place 🥰 No contest when it came to what I wanted for lunch- had to be Whitby Crab 😋 Weather kind. A wander, a few treats, good coffee/food, a boat trip. As I was sat watching excited kids “ crabbing ”, a seal popped up in the harbour(no pic) 🦭♥️

When in Rome and all that… 🙃😉😂 ( the captain insisted 🤣) Felt the urge to go on a boat so I have…😁 Bit choppy 🫣🌊
