This movie is pretty fucking good.

#TIFF 2/4: There are a lot of movies that do the anti-social kids with a camera movie better than BARRIO TRISTE. Aimless yet padded out at the same time. Clearly sets out to be as unpleasant a watch as possible, at which is undoubtedly succeeds. But there is so little substance underneath.

TIFF 1/4: DIYA is a social drama with some good performances and great camera work about a man trapped by the melange and his own carelessness and traditional cultural practices. More interesting than a lot of moral fable dramas because the lead isn’t a maligned innocent but just a dude who sucks.
