Watched 2022’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Another direct sequel to a horror classic. It seems we have replaced horny teens with wokeness for killers to hunt down. Even with a runtime of only 80 minutes the film still feels too long. Sarah Yarkin is a highlight though. boxd.it/ns6c

Honorable mention for top concert this year: I’m only mildly embarrassed to admit this but I saw Nickelback. I had fun & I was in the pit (bc my friend only does floor/pit). They played “Hero” which technically isn’t a Nickelback song but akin to when The Eagles perform “The Boys of Summer”.

My top 3 concerts of 2023: #1 Taylor Swift - Saw her in Cincinnati which I ended up loving too. #2 Paramore - First show after going to the Eras Tour. Bought last minute tickets and wasn’t disappointed. #3 Jimmy Eat World & Manchester Orchestra - 2 of my favorites + front row seats.

I liked American Fiction. If you’ve seen the trailer you get a good sense of this satire. What you don’t get is anything with the main character’s family which one can is argue may be the main plot of this story. Jeffrey Wright is great in this. boxd.it/DYHm

Watched the film Thanksgiving. I’m a sucker for the Grindhouse-fake-movie-trailer-turned-real-films. If b-movie-inspired horror from Eli Roth sounds appealing to you then you likely won’t be disappointed.

I liked Saltburn. It’s funny, dark, anxiety-inducing, and showed me things I haven’t seen on film before.
