i also figured out, what to do with the classic markers, and I think I should leave them out with the caps off to make them dry so they don't soak the paper.

oh good news, I brought new fabric markers from the dollar store and they work in my spray gun, sooooo that means both the washable and fabric markers fit. Why is this important? that means there is a cheap alternative to the Crayola ecosystem for this specific use, but the colors are limited.
