Inspired by @jruidraws.bsky.social, Merch I wish existed: A vinyl box-set of the Survivor soundtracks. We got Brian D'Oliveira's excellent score for Shadow; but not Bobby Tahouri's Rise or Jason Graves' Born soundtracks. And all three are excellent. Bonus for including "I Shall Rise" and "La Bruja".

Merch I wish was real: a Rise or Shadow controller. I love my old Tomb Raider 360 controller, but because I always use it when playing the games - I forget how much the Xbox One native games use the Impulse Triggers on the newer controller.

Busy shopping day! Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider on GoG to have archival copies, and the Tomb Raider Cookbook because eh, why not.

The big print is done! I'm really glad I persevered - this is going to make direct comparison of the artefacts a lot easier than trying to look at them both virtually. Not least because through the power of external constraints and a little bit of luck, I've printed them about the same size.

Argh, @tombraiderhorizons.bsky.social showed that gorgeous screencap of Lara in the classic specs; but every time I tried to pick up a pair they've been out of stock. Temptation doth burn me with it's wicked tongue. Or something.

Here's the print I finished yesterday after the most recent rebuild of my printer; the "Ceremonial Pipe" relic from Shadow. It's an interesting object in the game, but this was also a test of printing in-game objects essentially unedited. There are very few I could print this way - but this was one!

New nozzle, bowden, bed, and fittings. And printing something shorter that I can keep an eye on!

Printer self-destructed right after I went to bed. I should really look into contract manufacturing. Or just a Bambu A1.

Today's activities primarily consist of: * 3D-printing a replica of an object in the British Museum (which will take the next 26 hours). * Writing about international RF allocations. * Laundry. Aiming to add cooking, and gym - the latter since it was missed last night due to work pressures.

I'm playing Prop Hunt again. No, not the G-Mod gamemode; that thing where I go hunting for some of the original props that inspired the @tombraider.com Survivor games. One of the pouches is a handmade British coin purse, but I can't remember for the life of me where i read that.

Just for the record, I haven't been eaten by an eel for want of a chunk of prop blade. Moderately injured my arm last month which has made functioning rnough of a challenge that it's taken priority over creating things. Healing slowly, be back at it soon!

I think my printer needs calibrating again. Final result of last nights print (an unraidery plaque for something) was good, but the first few layers were weirdly crunchy.

Crafty person problems: Went to print something today and discovered my printer was full of Fudge. Took me about an hour to clean it out and get everything reassembled. Must have left the printer running hot for too long. Smelled good though.

Today's mission: find a big sheet of black paper. The stupidest of hold-ups for the website and YouTube channel: I need a background to film over!

To be clear, that means you have to listen out for clocks tonight, get Charlie Bucket's dad to disassemble them tomorrow morning, and be completely lost in Cambodia next month when the 7th planet joins the crew.

Weekend sprain was kicking my butt today. But I won't give up! If a bear trap won't stop Lara, a misplaced step won't stop me! Ate lots of lean plant-based protein and going to do some gentle leg exercise before sleep.

Booze Raider update: there are three alcoholic beverages found in Rise: a spirit, a wine and a lager. So far I've identified the lager. Kind of an oof too, the brewery has some ...unpleasant recent history and political ties. So that's kinda gross. The Shadow beer is also a lager Coincidence?

A redditor asked if CD would remaster Tomb Raider 2013. Should they? It was "remastered" only a year after release, but there's a lot about it that doesn't flow smoothly with the later games. Lara and Jonah's redesigns for Rise/Shadow, very different controls and gameplay between 2013 and later...
