Positive start to the New Year returning to real life and daily routine. Now I am wiped. Early mornings in the dark, battling the elements, icy roads, snow, traffic. Roadworks. People. Storm Goretti imminent, I'll be happy not to go out tomorrow and have another mini break until Monday.

After weeks battling gridlocked roads, roadworks, Xmas shoppers and atrocious wet weather, today I escaped the mayhem and "mad" Friday. In days past I would have been dealing with kids high on sugar, followed by the forced fun of secret Santa and the Xmas “do”. So glad I’m retired and can opt out.

20 years since the pilot. 5 years since the finale. The final episode is still difficult to watch. I continue to grieve the loss of the show and seeing #JensenAckles and #JaredPadalecki on my screen together. I will always be grateful for the joy they continue to bring to my life.

Not a fan of chick flicks. Nope. Never. But Steel Magnolias? Gets me every time. Powerhouse performances from all the ensemble cast. Lots of humour with a good dose of tears. What could be better on a duvet day?!

40 years ago today, I lost my Dad and my life upended. Today, life is good and I consider myself very lucky. I still miss you Dad and there isn't a day goes by that don't think about you or what you would say to me right now. However, now I know that you were right when you said "It'll be reet!"

All caught up with #Tracker in anticipation of the S3 premiere and #JensenAckles’ return as Russell. Have really enjoyed seeing familiar locations in and around Vancouver particularly as I was just there a few weeks ago. Excited about the development of the brother relationship.

First full weekend at home in 6 weeks. Love travelling, but also love home, especially at this time of year. Peace and quiet without the sounds of grinding power tools, barking dogs and screeching kids/adults or the stench of burnt BBQ. What am I doing? Catching up on TV. Planning next year trips.

5pm and I'm ready for bed. 23-hour travel day yesterday setting out at 2am, up since 4am today due to jet lag, and then some mountain air today will do that. Managed 2 walks, but I'm so stiff. Sun has just come out, but another walk ? Impossible !

Back to school for teachers tomorrow and I am glad it's not me. Training, a.k.a read to and talked at. Exam results. Accountability. Escalating abusive behaviour. Increasingly long hours. Ofsted. Toxic staff, bullying and the “How was your summer?” Instead? Retired life, full of positivity. #happy

Every year I finish a #Supernatural rewatch, then take a break. This year, I rewatched Dark Angel, Big Sky and My Bloody Valentine, as well as Jensen’s appearances in The Boys, Tracker and the latest conventions. Then his new show #Countdown. But, I miss Dean Winchester. I love the early seasons.

My book project has been slow going this week. Virtually nothing achieved and really struggling until yesterday. I then put one page aside, started a new one and have since completed two. Result. 😀 Still have to go back to the others eventually, though. But for now...

Finally watched the end of Gilmore Girls. Sad to finish? Yes. Tears? Of course. Would I watch again? Maybe. It's a good teatime feel-good drama. Started because of Jared Padalecki. Shame he just disappeared, but obviously he had reasons. #Supernatural Maybe I'll find the revival. #SPNFamily

I don't begrudge giving up time if someone needs a listening ear or wants to pass the time of day. In fact it is very rewarding. But lately my time allotted to do certain tasks is being eaten away, so that I can't get around to personal projects for which I have set a deadline. Running out of time.

I have been staring at photos all day today trying to jump start my ongoing photo project (currently vol 3). I have made zero progress, but thoroughly enjoyed the trip down memory lane. My very first #SPN location photo, snapped randomly from the train on my very first trip to Canada. Gut feeling?

5 years ago, stressed at work, holding on for Easter break, #SPNNash + trip to Nola, I was sent home from work. 3 days later, lockdown. Isolated from family and friends, back in work, no prospect of travelling, Covid almost finished me. 2 years later, burnt out I took early retirement. Life is good.

Sometimes you must step away to see through the fog. Failed to resolve the ongoing issue with my new specs and failed to make inroads in understanding the recent pension documents written in gobbledygook. Both now in a box to be opened another day. Instead, 2 days devoted my wellbeing. Feel better.
