Ghost Nebula, WIP. This is about the creepiest nebula, and off to the left of the image are several cloud wisps that look like figures with their arms raised. Hopefully you'll get to see that tomorrow.

I finished the commission of the elk and bears on the neckline of a linen shirt! The original commission was for an elk and a black bear. After many attempts at coming up with a balanced composition, I decided to go with a summer/winter theme. The pulls are because the shirt is lying flat.

I thought I was taking a break from painting after churning out, oh, I don't know, 13 large paintings and a bunch of small ones. I put everything away...and then I took it out again. So meet Iridescent Goethite.

The weather said "snow" and they were right. They also said "turning to rain." You can see how that turned out...

What can I say? It was a hot weekend, drawing volcanoes! This one is in pastels on sanded paper. The image came from a screen shot, so a foreground had to be added in.

Quartz phantom

Hematite with rutile and smoky quartz. I thought I'd never get this one right!

Prehnite with quartz and babingtonite. The prehnite was painted in watercolor. Then, after that dried, I applied clear tacky glue to it and put a zillion "caviar" glass beads over top of the painting. The small black babingtonite crystals are matte black bugle beads. #mineral #gem #crystal

Yesterday I came upstairs from the basement and looked out the window at my bird feeder. Apparently this hawk had decided to give "bird feeder" a whole new meaning. Well, they have to eat too!

Zoisite var. Tanzanite, watercolor on watercolor board. I feel this is possibly one of the best paintings I've ever done.
