Happy Year of the Fire Horse! Hou Ma (The Fire Horse) was the third character I created in #CoH. She was modeled after my daughter, who was born in the year of the Fire Horse. She started out as a naive, new hero, but eventually got retconned into a fierce warrior with a haughty imperious attitude

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels '98 Subaru Impreza 22B STI (2024 HW: The 90s). The scale on this one feels a bit off compared to the other Subarus on the team, but that's just #HotWheels and #Gaslands for ya. Unlike the Mazda team, I'll probably delete the tampos on these cars.

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels Subaru WRX STI (2023 HW J-Imports). I will be using Japanese cars for my Miyazaki team and painting them in manga style. These are late model cars that post-date the Martian Invasion. So, in my head canon, alternate world developed some cars earlier.

Base coats done on two #CarWars models. Both in the paint schemes of teams from the Gaslands Death Race Demo. One is Scarlett Annie and the other is Rutherford.

First pre-build of the Box Car Roller dice tower. It's mostly a Tonka dump truck toy with Necromunda bulkheads and Lego as the support structure. Going to "weld" hubcaps to the sides to look like sixes i.e. boxcars. Need to add spikes to the roller, plasticard to the sides and the top.

Resetting the hobby desk for next projects. Painting up some #CarWars models primarily. Secondary projects are Martian Racing Federation and the Box Car Roller dice tower fot #Gaslands Wanna finish six Car Wars models for my friend and have the dice tower finished for the #diecast meet next month.

The clearest evidence of how completely captured I am by #Gaslands is that I'm not getting back into Eldar with the new releases. They are fine and all, but it's not twitching my hobby nerves. Still, always happy to boost the signal of a fellow Bluesky-er, especially when their work is so very good

Stepped away from the hobby desk after weeks of building for the demo game. Still did some hobby stuff, though. Hit a milestone of 1000 cars in my collection. I didn't want to to reach this number, tbh. Didn't stop collecting, instead, reclassified what counts as part of my collection. 1/

Fellow #nerdlings, #Gasland -ers and #hobby -folks, what do you think about this idea? Some crushed aluminum foil, a spare wheel and paint should make for convincing crushed car cubes? I'm thinking of naming this the "Box Car Roller" to play on it crushing cars into cubes and being a dice tower.

Posting a comic cover I love. I recognize that the "Five Years Later" Legion is controversial amongst the fanbase. Personally, I loved it. I wasn't a Legion fanboy from way back, really only since the Vol. 3 Baxter run. Yet, I loved how the story advanced and the characters evolved.

I was fiddling around with building a dice tower out of first edition Necromunda bulkheads. It was to be attached to a garage of a raceway clean up crew that I'm planning on building. I would name it after the host of diecast meet and his car shop business. 1/

Monster Truck Big Rig chassis. Bone Shaker Cab-over-engine. Two motorized Battlebots platforms. And various armor and weapons. There's gotta be something I can build here, right?

The father of the kids who played the game sent me a pic of their cars on a carrier. He said that they had a great time and were glad to have something else to do while he tended to his seller table. I told him that they were great kids and they are welcome to play at the next meet.

In the end, I did only that first demo with the family of kids yesterday. Still, I consider the day an unqualified win. The kids were great and they kept stopping by throughout the day to talk about the game and modeling. 1/

Had my first race, four siblings. Little sister and three older brothers. The little sister won, not by crossing the finishing line; but by destroying the lead car with her machine guns. They all won a prize car for causing so much mayhem!

The #Gaslands demo is tomorrow. Had a successful live playtest with friends tonight. Fun was had, along with beer and pizza. Everything is packed and ready to go. Gotta be up in eight hours to get to the venue and setup. But here I am in front of an empty hobby desk. Wondering what to do next.

Maybe it's because it's 340 am and I'm on my phone instead of sleeping. Maybe it's because I've achieved a dubious milestone in collecting #diecast. Or maybe it's because these cars are fire, but I want this casting super-bad. Never realized the shape of a car could epitomize an entire decade.

After multiple attempts at finishing a #Gaslands race, I'm calling it a night. For this playtest, I rolled max skid dice every activation. But, I kept forgetting who had pole, the attack step and turn order. The fact that I chose to use similarly painted carts didn't help. Neither did the beer.

Super cool idea for an afterschool snack! Though, I'd probably make it less healthy by adding Kewpie mayo...

Today's #diecast #DeskCars is four of the Matchbox 1998 Police 5-Pack. I'm considering making them #Gaslands Roadshow Live official vehicles. Though, I'm undecided on keeping this color and deco or making it the gray and orange official colors of #GRL.

Two things occurred to me as I prepped for the next playtest of the #Gaslands demo. First, this is not going to work. Second, I need to build more monster trucks. Like one for each Sponsor. Only Beverly, Rusty's and Order of the Inferno are represented here.

Looks like in Turn 2, Gear Phase 4, Fish Tank is going to swim away with the win! The other three competitors each wiped out smashing into one another coming out of the Floop. With all their rivals in the rear view, Fish Tank punched it up to fifth Gear with nothing but daylight ahead! #Gaslands

Went back to the #diecast shop because I left behind a car that I needed. While there, I dug through the loose bin, I haven't seen a Silver Bullet (aka Aeroflash) before. Got it home and looked it up on the Wiki to find that it's exclusive to a Highway 35 World Race track set. It's very cool

Today's #diecast is a two-fer of the '64 Lincoln Continental, the Hot Wheels 2023 HW Slammed and the Matchbox 2025 MBX Showroom releases. You can really see the differences in design philosophy between the two companies here. They are both great castings and have excellent details.

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels '90 Mazda MX-5 Miata (2025 HW Dream Garage). This car is the winner of the 2023 Hot Wheels Legends Tour and is named "The Chimera". It was built by Chris Watson of Tofu Auto Works in New Zealand. It's a great casting and has solid #Gaslands vibes.

A lot of my playtesting ended up very same-y same-y and after getting some feedback, I realized that the cause was the narrowness of the track. I opened it up some and added length towards Gate 1. That first turn is still fairly tight, but the second is pretty open! #Gaslands #diecast #nerdlings

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels '80 Mazda RX-7 (2024 HW First Response). Another member of the Miyzaki team, "KYT0". This deco is definitely a keeper as it looks like it just leapt off the pages of a racing manga.

Took a break from playtesting and terrain building to explore some high flying concept builds. The Morgan Super-3 and the Indycar feel lightweight enough as gyrocopters. And the Final Faction flying platform makes a good base for the Martian Racing Federation. #Gaslands #diecast #nerdlings

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels Mazda RX-3 (2025 Peak Pursuit). This is one of the cars for my Miyazaki team. The plan is to keep the original paintjob and Japanese deco, but paint manga/anime style elements.

Gate pillar markers and tank traps. The markers are removable and I'm thinking about building billboards as another option for the pillars. I thought to make tank traps because I've got so many spare sprues. Also, I needed smaller destructible obstacles.

Can you wipeout and then flip your way across the FINISH? Cause that's what the CAR-nivore just did, I think.

Just can't stay away from the hobby desk, even when playtesting. Built some caps for the gate pillars. These are starting lights, they are removable. Going to do some number flags next. Cut up sprues to make tank traps. This one feels a little small though.

#Gaslands gets my mind racing, when I should be sleeping. Finalized the track course for the demo, it's a "P" rather than an "X". Took a few rounds of playtesting as a new player might play. But, if I'm being honest, what did it for me was coming up with names for the parts of the course.

Time for another episode of why am i awake? I need to keep the cars from rolling in the #Gaslands demo. Don't want to glue the wheels because it's a diecast meet and rolling wheels is important. Considering either using blue tack in a discrete location or using a square of fabric as a playmat.

Playtest one turn. Got up to Gear Phase 4. I'll have to make the turns a bit wider, it got very tight. Might even need to expand the "square" in the center a touch, if there's enough room on the table. Good playtest, I remembered more than I had thought I would. #Gaslands #diecast #nerdlings

Doing goofy shit like this makes me ridiculously happy. Using the Hot Wheels Fast-Bed Hauler (2025 HW Gassers 5-Pack), some Lego and a basic D6 as the Gear Phase tracker.

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels X-Cceleron (2026 Exoticars). I was not an AccleRacers kid, mostly because I wasn't into Hot Wheels at the time and I was way too old . Still, I've grown to appreciate the series of castings. This one is not an AcceleRacer, but definitely is an homage.

The spectator stands for the #Gaslands Death Race Demo are completed. Sometimes it feels like happenstance favors my builds. I had exactly three of these rams from a Battlebots arena toy and exactly nine seated spectators and the bleachers look best with three figures.

Gates and pillars for the #Gaslands Death Race Demo are completed. I had a set of unbranded #diecast cars that I knew I was not going to use as vehicles. But, they came in handy as terrain. The pillars can be used separately as barricades or obstacles.

While waiting for paint to dry, I was considering a vehicle I had decommissioned from the 82nd JOEs. I decided to re-task it as a camera chase car for Gaslands Roadshow Live! This makes it the first #GRL vehicle built. It doesn't have official markings as it was commandeered in the field.

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels El Segundo Coupe (2026 HW Fan Driven). This is actually my third one, I have two of the 2023 debut releases. But, decided to give those two away as prize cars for my second #Gaslands demo game. I like this deco more and the windshield tint is nice.
